I've got a cracked hinge on my white DS Lite...if I paint it black before I send it to Nintendo is there any chance they'd be fooled and send me back a brand new black Lite?

Have you seen the pics of the crack on the corner above the shoulder button where the cap holding the top screen in place comes off?

That one you linked to looks exactly like mine.  I think it's just that particular left hinge crack that they're replacing.

I'll have to return my 2 white ones to Costco when they get the black in.  But then again, black might show hand prints more.

I hate the "Shiney" outside coat of the DS, my major complaint, as a rougher, flat coat, wouldn't show finger grease as much.

Yeah, I'd get the navy over the black if they were both coming out, but I'm happy we're getting the black one.

What I was saying is that if you never release a black version of the GBA in the US, for example, you are just not appealing to the total market.  Why they were so reticent to do such things is what baffles me.  Sure, release it a year later and milk the market, but to never do so when those colors are available elsewhere is a bit baffling.

I wondered too. Tempted to buy the retro design so I can remember my gaming youth every time I play my DS.

It fits quite well.  I did a write up of it over on CAG complete with pics.

It looks pretty good, but imo, the outside sticker is the best one and it will remain long after I take the inner ones off.  It's worth the money if you want 'something' different.

I had trouble getting it to fit right because I'm a clumsy oaf and do not posses the hands of a surgeon- I actually stretched the skin a bit and had to do a couple of snips.

I've had it on a for a few months and still like it.

2 months from the 'review', my observations are still accurate but I'm still pretty pleased.  I have the whole skin still on the DS and haven't tired of it yet.

It's not supposed to leave any residue when you do take it off, but I guess I'll find out at a later time.

Finally, I have no idea why the pictures all turned out so blurry...

Just read through the thread on CAG again.  Some harsh posts in it. I don't think it looks that bad in person.  It doesn't look like the image on the decalgirl site, but it's fine, imo.
