What is that clicky-thing for? It unlocks to two slots on the back, but I can't figure out what it's for...

It's a load bearing clicky-thing.  Don't remove it or your Wii will break open and all the retro games will spill out.

LOL

It's for 'Future Attachment #2 that everybody will want to own'.

Frankly, I thought it was going to attach to your Wiimote (so you don't have to have the remote hanging nearby), but apparently it's not.

How do you guys like the classic controller....noticed that ebgames.com has it in stock and thinking about getting it  icon_biggrin

Or do you like the gamecube controller better?

I like it, however I would prefer that it was a little bigger.  Otherwise a nice design and it feels well made.

I definitely prefer it to the Cube controller- better D-Pad, which can be important for older VC games.  And it's not obvious if you see it in the package but it's wireless.  It does have a wire but that plugs into the remote, not the console.

I love the VC controller, and I wish you could play Gamecube games on it (FAR superior analog sticks, IMHO - always hated that second 'nub' of an analog stick). Hell - I wish I could somehow use it as a PC controller.

It drives me crazy that you can't use the Classic controller as a Gamecube Controller.  It has all the necessary buttons.  Surely it wouldn't be that hard to do.

They would have to release an adapter or something.  Gamecube is pretty much natively supported in hardware- not emulation.  So Gamecube games will only respond to the controller ports.  However, I believe the Wii uses a completely different wireless protocol than what the Cube did.  So you would almost have to have a Classic Controller that was Cube specific with a wireless dongle like the Wavebird uses which doesn't seem worth it.

It's like the cube from Hellraiser.  Once you solve it, well, you'll find out  icon_twisted

So you need a gamecube controller to play GC games?  I guess I'd might as well track down a GC memory card and a Wavebird now instead of waiting.

Maybe a 3rd party will develop an adapter for cube games.

I prefer to use the classic controller when playing any of my VC games.  Very nice feel to the controller.

isn't it odd having to hook the Classic controller to the remote? I'm sure if I actually found one in the store I would buy it, but it seems like that would make it alittle awkward.

Not really.  I just lay the remote on the couch next to me.

I asked this question back when the WIi launch and it's good to see the answers in here are as useless as they were in my thread.  icon_biggrin

Seriously, though, I wonder what those slots are for.  I really had thought it would clip to the wiimote and that the button was to unlock it from the wiimote, but no dice.  Nintendo, solve this mystery!!!!

Yeah, you really don't notice it.  And the controller really is a good one.  Comfortable, light and fun to use.
