I am interested in giving a DMC game a go on the PSTwo, but I only want to invest in one.  Which of the three should it be, and why?

Any opinions?

either 1 or 3...do NOT under any circumstances get 2

personally my favorite is 3, it has the best combat system ever...out of any action-adventure game (ninja gaiden, god of war, etc)

1 is by far the best of the series. 3 gained much praise, but its an insanely linear, claustrophobic, nearly pure fighting game rather than an action/adventure game like the first.

Ninja Gaiden took my balls tied them in a knot, slow-cooked them over an open fire, and served them to me with a nice red wine.  If DMC three is more like that, I better stick with the first one.

Thanks.

Try the Special Edition for DMC 3. Juicy extras (you play can play as Virgil, Dante's brother), plus the default difficulty level was lowered (apparently the original DMC 3 shipped with Japan's hard difficulty on the normal difficulty, or somesuch).. Also, the original DMC kicks ass a lot biggrin.
