I was going through my games and found Interstate 76. I had forgotten I owned it. Was going to start looking on eBay forit. I remember being giddy the whole time I played it when it came out. The horns, engine sounds, guns, car physics, and yes the funky music. I cant say ive seen one game like it since then..not even it's sequel.

Id love to havea new one just like it but modernized.New physics, graphics, sound...but keep the gameplay and structure. I think Ill reinstall it and give it another go. I remember it being pretty hard to beat sometimes.

Auto assault might be a contender, but it's an MMO.

There's also Full Auto, but that's more a racer than a pure car fighter.

I think Auto Assault will be the closest we get, but I doubt it, or any game, could match I'76's style, which is a shame.

It's funny, but I dug out my I76 arsenal pack this past weekend.  However, getting it to run in XP has stopped me from playing or installing.  I went to the "Vogons" website (I'm at work so I can't link it here) and a couple people got it working, but it seemed beyond me.  I'm all thumbs when it comes to tweeking, etc.

Well, it's indie game, and not exactly 3D (overhead viewpoint), but check out Mexican Motor Mafia. Simple, but still a bit of fun.

I believe the Nitro Pack was the combo.  I have it too.  Hmm...might need to break it out of storage as well.

The Nitro Pack is the add-on, the Arsenal is the entire package with the original game and the add-on. I was lucky enough to get I'76 working on XP, but forget how to do it. I think I wrote it in a forum post somewhere on OO or QT3. I'll take a look for it.
