The article referenced in this thread: http://www.gamingtrend.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13476Has this: if current installations prove the rule, most will not be situated in the average consumer’s living room This was in reference to gaming consoles. That surprised me. I got to thinking about our friends and realized that only 1 of them has the gaming console in the main family room. Mine is in the family room. Where is yours? - shaggy

In a big box in my closet. I keep all my consoles there, and just haul it out (the console, not the box) when I want to play something.
When it's actually in use, however, it's playing on my computer (through the TV tuner card). I live in a small apartment, so everything is pretty much in the one room.

I have an entertainment room since I live on my own and currently live in a 3-bedroom home (not as big as it sounds, but it's still fairly roomy for me!). My living room is more meant for socializing and is kept open to drag out the dining table for tabletop games (board games, wargames, cards, whatever).

Everything is in the main living room except the GameCube. I ran out of space so I had to put it in my bedroom.

Still, it's a pretty bitchin setup.

Everything in my bedroom except the XBOX 360 which I still leave at my office(not home office but another location where I work 5 days a week).
I'll eventually take the XBOX 360 home once my co-workers are bored of the few games that I have for the 360.

consoles & tv in the guest/entertainment room, which is why i'm mostly a handheld gamer (in the living room) during the spring/summer - too pretty to be stuck up there...

Upstairs in our "sauna" room most of the time. It gets hot in there during the summer. Also, that TV doesn't have satellite hooked up either, so usually I'm downstairs watching sports and playing a handheld.

All of my consoles sit under a 30' widescreen TV that resides in the master bedroom. Offers hi-def viewing, as well as surround sound listening.
Works well, if a little cramped.

my ps2 and gamecube are in the living room (my son uses the ps2 for a dvd player) Everything else is upstairs in storage. Though I do have my ps1 in our "study" if you want to call it that.
Mostly I just play the DS..it's easy to start up, and i don't have to worry about turning off a kids movie to play.

When I feel like sharing the 360 with Ralph-Wiggum, it's in the family room. Otherwise, like now, it's up in my bedroom hooked up to my widescreen monitor.

We have a formal living room, which doesn't get much use, and a Family Room that we spend most of our time in. The 360 is in the Family Room.

My upstairs family room has become the Entertainment room due to, Surround Sound, Decent TV, Computer, PS2, Etc. Etc.
So I'm mostly right here.
But my family room in the basement also has my PS1 and Sega hooked up, with Surround Sound and all that.
FAMILY ROOMS DONT EXSIST ANYMORE.
OMG. OMG.

while i'm at home (not on campus), there's an xbox in the movie room (for dvds) and a ps2 in the computer/tv room (so my lazy mother doesn't have to go anywhere to watch movies nobody else wants to watch). ^_^
various ancient sega systems occasionally shake off the dust of centuries and warm up their sleepy brains for me, but they generally stay hidden in shelves and closets.

Mine's in my family room. But I live alone so while it is used for general socializing my home theater is its focus.

Technically, in the "home office", though to be accurate it's really "Kevin's Playroom" and houses my PC, consoles, and bookshelves. If I had them hooked up in our living room I would never have any time to play since that would mean kicking my wife off of that TV.

I guess we call it "the room with the TV in it"
I am too lazy to move machines around when or if I want to play in another room. I could set up in the office but it's not worth the time.

I have an extra set of power and AV cables that I keep plugged in each room in case I get the urge. Makes it a lot easier. Then again, I also have power adapters to recharge the GBA/DS and PSP in both the kitchen and my bedroom... I'm crazy like that.
