Geez... uh... the people across the street had an Atari, but I don't know what game it was that I played. It may have been Frogger?
The first console game I played and actually owned was Duck Hunt!

We had an Atari 2600 and a bunch of games: Pac-Man, Asteroids, heck I don't know. I sold the whole setup to Laner awhile back. Hey Laner - what games did I play when I was a kid?

Well, I had an Atari 2600 as my first home console. While I owned quite a few titles, I don't remember which one was my first. Lots of good memories though.

My first console gaming experience was over at John Arnett's house. The lucky bastage had a 2600 before anyone else. So I spent lots of time playing before and after my piano lessons there - I remember, Space Invaders, Combat, Basketball, and Superman particularly... We had an Atari 2600 and a bunch of games: Pac-Man, Asteroids, heck I don't know.
I sold the whole setup to Laner awhile back.
Hey Laner - what games did I play when I was a kid? IIRC, a lot of the pre-Space Invaders Atari games... Outlaw, Hangman, Othello, 3-D Tic Tac Toe; and the typical arcade ports - like you said, Pac-Man, Asteroids, etc.

No idea - My brother had an Atari. I played a lot of games on it. I don't remember what kind of Atari it was, but it had a tape drive attached to it. The three games I remember playing most clearly are Escape from Epsilon, Pole Position, and BoulderDash. I first played the original Super Mario Bros on NES at a babysitter's house. I remember having the WORST time getting past that first Goomba.

my first was Pong...on one of these, an APF TV-Fun... i still have it in my closet and it works great as for consoles that play something other than Pong, my first was something on an Atari 2600...probably either Asteroids or Combat. my first NES game was Slalom...not the greatest, but quickly followed by a little SMB.

Mario
I'm a youngin. That's funny! The first at-home console game I ever played is what came with the NES - Mario Bros. But I'm not a "youngin", just got a late start. I sucked at it, laughed hysterically at first, but eventually hated the constantly falling, croaking, etc. and starting over again. However, the next game was The Legend of Zelda... and the rest is history!

Not including Pong at my local Sears, Space Wars on the original Atari 2600 somewhere around 1976 I believe.
My brother and I got the Atari 2600 as a Christmas gift in 1976 ( I think ) We also got 6 games as gifts. I think one was Football, Combat, Space War, the racing Game that had its own controllers, and two others. One I think was Baseball.

Pong on a very expensive Radio Shack brand 'home entertainment system' that contained pong, hockey (pong w/ 2 paddles on each side), and a light gun shooting game. Not an official console, but still the first game I had ever played on a TV. A few months later the Atari 2600 came out and I got to play Space Invaders... I was sure gaming wouldn't get any better than that moment. Until I got an Intellivision that is

Adventure on the Atari 2600
Followed by Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I also recall some game that was released as a part of a contest of some kind.... I think they released 3 carts or something that had stuff you had to do in order to win the contest. I can't remember what that was though...
Then we got the beloved Intellivision and Sea Battle was where it was at!

Well I can't recall for sure but I'm guessing the first console game was Atari 2600 Adventure. JC Penny (or Sears maybe?) had Atari 2600 booths set up where you could play a variety of 2600 games. I'm pretty sure out of all of them Adventure was the first one I got to play.
Spent a lot of time in that department store. And was thrilled when other department stored started doing the same over the years. Can recall a record store that had the Atari 2600 version of Empire Strikes Back up that was coveted by every kid.
Then a G. Fox store had a bunch of computer and video games set up on their third floor which was a gold mine for me since most kids didn't travel up there so had gotten to play a lot of Activision games without inturruption and checked out some of the weirder consoles like the Odysee.
Good times.
