I was paging through both marketplaces the other day and it occurred to me I've never really found anything worn buying other than add ons.  It seems like a waste to let such a resource go wasted, so I was wondering what everyones favorite titles were.

I got my money's worth with Peggle, Poker Smash, and Worms to name a few off the top of my head. Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride were also well worth the money.

I always find myself going back to Zuma though...

Uno - not necessarily a real video game, but still a great waste of time.

Worms and Eets are fantastic. Peggle's good, but I have my fill of that on PC and DS.

It's the same game, except you can play it in HD, and you can use controllers 2-4 for extra trance vibrating action!

Field experiments show that the multiplayer is surprisingly fun.   eek

There's definitely some XBLA titles I like and my kids absolutely love Castle Crashers, but I have to say that for the most part they pale in comparison to the better SNES and N64 games on Virtual Console. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the AA quality titles that have arrived on XBLA, but when the majority of the games only seem to best 15 year+ old SNES games graphically, you've have to wonder. Out of all I've downloaded the ones I thought were worth the $:

Castle Crashers
Bionic Commando (new version)
Aces of the Galaxy
Assault Heroes
Small Arms

Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars 2, Outrun Arcade, and Lode Runner were all worthy purchases.  I'm also looking forward to Marvel vs. Capcom 2, anyone heard when it's coming out?

Same here.  It was fun, but not $20 fun.

XBLA:
Rez HD - I Loved this on the Dreamcast, had to buy it
Uno - as mentioned previously, lots of fun.
Soul Calibur (original arcade)

Honestly the price point is too high on a lot of the XBLA games for me to bite. That and my inability to convert spacebucks into currency realtime just turns me off.

PSN:
Super Stardust HD - by far the best twin stick shooter I've ever played. I got sucked into this one for weeks when I first got the PS3, and still play it now.

Trash Panic - best 5 bucks I've spent in ages. looks like a lame tetris clone, but it is HARD!

Pain: Lots of fun, great party game. Who wouldn't pay 10 bucks to throw Hasselhoff into moving traffic?

Crash commandos - this is really fun multiplayer. Think Unreal tournament converted into a platformer.

Ragdoll Kung-Fu - It's crash commandos with Kung-fu instead of missiles

----
Oddball games that are strange, but fun:

The last guy - top down view of a city, rescue people from monsters. It's plays like an odd re-imagining of pacman.

Hehe, to be fair I got it free when Sprint was sponsoring it, so I went pretty easy on it. It was pretty fun playing multiplayer. I didn't have nearly the difficulty you did controlling it, so I guess mileage varies. Reading your review is pretty much how I feel about street fighter.  icon_biggrin

Yeah, free makes a big difference with this game.  The lack of online MP is ridiculously stupid, and if I'd paid for it, I'd probably care.

Nobody's mentioned Everyday Shooter? One of the best takes on the dual stick shooter I've seen.  I've got it on Steam, which is identical to the PSN version.
