Quick question.

I have to travel a lot with my job and am looking for a good game to install on my work laptop.

The laptop is a IBM Thinkpad R51, with onboard video etc.

I installed BG2 last trip and found that I don't have the patience for a long rpg with a ton of talking/text while traveling.

I am more looking for something that is easy to sit down and play for short period or long periods of time, that requires strategy but isn't really hard to catch on to.  I played the heck out of Sim City 2000 back in the day so don't recommend SC.

Thoughts?

I have never played X-Com but have heard a lot about it.  What about Tropico?

I look forward to your suggestions!

*no fps, as I won't have a real mouse.

How is single player Star Craft?  I played the MP a lot, but never really played single player.  Good suggestion smile

The SP campaign is the gold standard by which all other RTS's are judged by.  And none have topped it in terms of plot.

But I wouldn't recommend it, as you don't have a real mouse.

Agreed on SuperHiro's comments.  Hell, you can play MP as well against the bots if you are inclined.  Pick up a cheap minimouse while you are at it. smile

i find it hard to use a real mouse on an airplane, but maybe that is just me.

People over at OO recommended Pirates! Stronghold & Heroes of Might & Magic 3.

I haven't played any of those.  I tried to play Civ 2 one day and didn't have the patience for it (I was quiet a bit younger though).

Civ3 - low graphics requirements and its turn based, so that you can play as little or as long as you want.
