http://www.true-gaming.net/home/?p=4237I am a huge Studio Ghilbli/Miyazaki animation fan, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, and I am big Level 5 fan. What little you can see of the game looks good graphics-wise, hopefully Level attaches a bunch of fun to all the pretty. more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oDdHa6aP_0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS3Xl1_p2U0

looks very nice (& a little reminiscent of brave story?). i'll definitely be getting it... but, as much as i worship miyazaki, i'm actually looking forward to (the continually-delayed) nostalgia more than i am this (2 words: airship combat )...

Even better - It's airship combat with gigantic swords mounted on the airships! With regards to Ninokuni, the music is supposed to be amazing as well. I hope we get confirmation of a US release soon.

In the latest Nintendo Power, Level 5 confirmed that the DS version (and the soccer RPG series Inazuma Eleven) would be released in North America. Hopefully, the PS3 version will join them.

The PS3 version is coming to North America in early 2012! Here's a look at the beautiful world map. The game really looks like a current-gen version of Dragon Quest, which is especially nice given the disappointing direction Dragon Quest X is taking.

say, any chance we could get the title of this thread changed to the actual game name? I only found it by finding another thread about it which redirected me here. anyways, early 2012 is now Winter 2012 for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

Namco Bandai apparently enjoys making people wait, as the US release of the game has been delayed until early 2013 They did put out a new trailer showing off the English voice acting, so at least we know for sure the game exists.

Here's the new E3 trailer, and it reveals the release date - January 22, 2013. Great time to release a game. More game companies need to start releasing their games during this time period, mostly a gaming release lull.

A Collector's Edition is coming to the US and Europe. It includes the 300 page hardcover book that is used in the game, a Drippy plush, and some DLC for $100.

I played through the demo and boy is it ever beautiful. I hadnt heard too much about this game so I didn't know what to expect exactly. I had no idea it was an RPG! Pretty interesting battle system where you have these pets that have spells and traits all of their own and you seem to be able to switch them in and out during the battle. I'm not a big RPGer like I used to be back in the Playstation days but it reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 12 the way you can run around the place and make attacks on the enemy while others in your party are doing their own thing. Pretty good potential!

I already know this is a day 1 purchase for me and I don't like to play the demo when that is the case.

I've had this pre-ordered for quite some time now and yes, tried the demo. As noted, it is beautifully done and I love the style. Didn't so much like the fact that they drop you in the middle of a couple of adventures or stories with no help on how anything works. And not sure that I liked the combat system, really need to play the demo again to get a better feel for it but haven't had the time. Haven't cancelled my pre-order.

I found the combat to be a bit awkward but I wonder if that is because I have no idea how it works.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, RPG demos are pretty much worthless for anything more than seeing how a game looks. Doubly so for JRPG's. They plunk you down in the middle of a random point in the game with no context as to the story, the situation, the character motivation, the nuances in the combat system, etc., etc. I've given up on trying RPG demos because 99% of the time they turn me off more than they get me excited for a game.
I might take a look at this one simply to check out the art style, but won't make any judgements on the actual game from it. Will wait for reviews to do that.

I finally got to try it last night.
As Canuck says, there's no reason to put too much into anything other than atmosphere and how certain aspects are handled, but I was very pleased with it so far.

Which is basically all I wanted from the demo. Just wasn't expecting to be so underwhelmed by the combat... ah well.

Why does every jRPG that comes out now have to have a frelling real-time component to the combat?
Ugh...no offense to those that prefer that, but there seems to be no alternative these days. I'll be over here in the corner waiting for the sequel to Enchanted Arms.

I absolutely loved the demo. The game looks beautiful (especially the fire mountain), the battle system is fun and looks to be dynamic enough to hold up over many battles, and in classic Level 5 fashion, there seems to be a ton of stuff to do. When I played Dragon Quest 8 many years ago, this game is what I envisioned a next-gen Dragon Quest game would be. With the DQ series going handheld and MMO, I'm really glad this game came along.
