Anybody having problems updating their PS3 games?

I re-downloaded Wipeout HD and it flew down,which surprised me

I started the game and i had to d/l a patch,it was 11mb but the patch wouldn't start...i tried quite a few times but nothing


A few people seem to be in the same boat as me with other games,while others say it must be your router etc..and some are suspecting its the recent 4.40 Firmware update for the PS3

is anybody else having problems updating their games if the game needs a patch?

Hmm,okay,it seems the people having problems are in the UK and they have the same broadband provider(Virgin Media) which i have also,it's just very strange that its only happening for the patches for games but downloading stuff from the store is fine(as is everything else on PC and 360)

Does your router have logging turned on?  You could look at the logs to find out the IP address that the PS3 is trying to reach when it fails.  Then you could ask your ISP if they are blocking that address for some reason.  If not, you might want to ask Sony customer support if there is anything wrong with the patch server.

it seems its not just Virgin Media now,some people with Sky Broadband are having issues as well..again just with patches for the games,its definitely just a UK thing ATM as far as i know


I have been with VM for years,and never had any problems with patches on my PS3 since buying a launch machine back in 2006

I have to give it another go though,as it was Thursday last time i tried(and gave up)
