What's due out this week? Well, in short, a whole bunch of good games:

Cube: Battalion Wars, Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects

DS: Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, Ultimate Spider-Man, Space Invaders Revolution, Big Mutha Truckers

GBA: Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, DK: King of Swing, Big Mutha Truckers, Disney's Cinderella: Magical Dreams, The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree

PSP: Frantix, Madden NFL 06

PS2: Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, We Love Katamari, Indigo Prophecy, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, SLAI: Steel Lancer Arena International, Legend of Kay, Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Gretzky NHL 2006, DICE, RPG Maker 3, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, DT Racer, Ultimate Spider-Man

Xbox: Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Tak: The Great Juju Challenge, Indigo Prophecy, Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes, Ninja Gaiden Black, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Ultimate Spider-Man

PC: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault, Fable: The Lost Chapters, Indigo Prophecy, Dragonshard, Myst V: End of Ages, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Arcade Collection, Neverwinter Nights: Kingmaker, Combat Mission: Afrika Korps, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Ultimate Spider-Man

I've asked this before and I'll ask it again - WHY are all these games coming out now that school is back in session? SO many more little games would be sold if only they came out during the summer months.

As for what I'm getting, I'm not sure yet. Way too damn many games worth buying this week to be sure.

Since it takes me quite a while to play games - yeah, I don't leave a single coin anywhere, and i'm always lost, therefore backtracking - I'm going to:

TRY... NOT... TO... BUY... ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! (*Grunts*)

I'm playing several games now (Advent Rising, Silent Hill 4, Sudeki), not even counting occasional hand-held game playing or head to head Dr. Mario - and I will be going crazy on Ratchet: Deadlocked in about a month - then it's Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, baby!

Right now, what might come into the house - but I won't pay for it, dammit! - is "We Love Katamari" (hey, I paid for the first one!)

Legend of Kay looks interesting, though...

Probably Battlalion Wars.  I'd love to get Madden for the PSP, but it'll probably suck.  I hadn't heard of Kingmaker for Nev Nights though, have to go look that one up now!

If the reviews are positive, I'll probably pick up Madden PSP.  Otherwise, I might have to check out Battalion Wars...

I may pick up Indigo Prophecy but I can't decide what to get it on since I have an Xbox, PS2, and PC.

Has anyone heard anything about load times?  I prefer the Xbox if it loads fast but the PC may win out if the game loads slow on the consoles.

Can't wait to see that review. I remember seeing it back at E3, so I'm curious as to the results.

I'm somewhat tempted to look into this title as well . . . but it really depends on what kind of reviews it gets (from here and elsewhere).

Oh man, this week has a Mutha load of games...with a capital M.

I'll be getting Ultimate Spider-Man and Katamari.   XML2 was at the top of my list, but I figure I should beat the first one before getting the second.

Indigo Prophecy has been getting good reviews too...

WH40k: Winter Assault and possibly Indigo Prophecy, depending on reviews.

And I'll keep an eye on Dragonshard reviews, despite the fact I thought the demo sucked.

Warhammer: Dawn of War - Winter Assault (PC) - Absooolutely.
Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox) - Although, I really shouldn't, since I won't be able to transfer the saves to X360, so I'll probably get this at a discount after I get the NextBox.

Seriously looking at:
Indigo Prophecy (PC)
We Love Katamari (PS2)

What's the word on Ultimate Spiderman, by the way? That shaping up to be any good?

I would love to pick up the DoW expansion pack and X-Men Legends 2, but I think I'm going to get limited by my budget to just the DoW expansion.

I'm still saving the extra dough for a 360.

Battalion Wars is the only one planned out of those.

Although there are quite a few I'd like to try and am interested...but BW is all I'm buying this week.

THEN AGAIN, I imported Osu!  Tatakae!  Ouendan! for the DS about a week ago and will get it sometime this week.  So there's $50 right there.

Ouch. Roughly translated - the RPG that comes with the game sucks, but the game itself has great potentional for those who want to spend lots and lots of time coding a true RPG.

I will rent every single one I can get my hands on and be content with renting them til the price drops on the ones I like the most.  I am keenly interested in

Indigo Prophecy
Marvel Nemesis
Battalion Wars

Very good week.  I am mostly interested in SOMETHING that will hold my interest until my most-wanted games, Shadow of the Colossus and FEAR, come out.  And need something to get my mind off those two.  I can't sleep for wanting those two games so badly.

Yes!  The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree is finally being released!  The graphics may be a bit lackluster, but all the previews point to a rich storyline and a deep combat system that could make it this fall's GBA 'killer app'.  I'll be sure to put up some detailed impressions soon...

OXM review of this has convinced me not to buy. The review text doesn't justify the 8.9/10.

Short, linear, head-scratching plot (and the controls are half off the top of my widescreen TV Tongue thanks OXM demo)

1. Ultimate Spiderman isnt coming out for the 'Cube?
2. Is it based on the really great Spiderman 2 game engine?
3. is the PC version going to be a port of the console game?  It wasnt with Spiderman 2, and I heard it really sucked on the PC.  So a port would be a really good thing.

The load times for Indigo Prophecy are negligable for the Xbox.

Also, there isn't much loading at all. It loads an area, and you're in it until you solve/finish it. Most areas take about 20 minutes if not more. Then the game loads for about 5 seconds for the new area.

I *strongly* suggest playing this game on a console. The game was designed to be played with a controller, not the mouse. I've played the PC demo and the full Xbox version, and the Xbox is far superior.

For instance, all the "context actions" you perform were created thinking you were using an analog stick. Some of them are fairly complex, like moving the stick right, then counterclockwise 3/4s a turn.

Also, there are several action parts that require you to press both sticks in varying directions. This is do-able on a PC, but it works much better on a controller.

LE - the (I THINK) newly posted PS2 IGN reviews says that:

"In terms of differences between the Xbox and PS2 version, they're mostly graphical, as to be expected. On the PS2, many of the game's textures aren't as sharp, the framerate stutters a little more, and the icons that appear at the top of the screen for interactive options and conversation choices aren't as pretty. Still, the game retains all the elements that make the Xbox version strong. This game isn't getting a high rating for its looks, after all."

I haven't been following Ninja Gaiden:Black that closely - is it just NG + the hurrcane packs + an easy mode?  Or did they add more to it than that?

If anybody does get Kingdom Under Fire 2, I'd love to hear some impressions...

From what I understand, other than that, there's a mission mode sort of deal...that I guess was in one of the hurricane packs, but now it's expanded.  And some more in-game cutscenes.  That's about it.

It actually tempts me now that there's a n00b difficulty level biggrin

Yep i'm gonna pick up Ninja Gaiden simply for the noob difficulty level.  I rented and played only a couple hours until i got frustrated and quit because it was so freakin hard.  I was previously debating on whether to get it or Mortal Kombat and i decided with NG.
So TW06 and NG it is for me!  I'm looking forward to any MK impressions though.
