No offense to you or anyone here, but I am finding it a tad fishy to be scanning the gaming boards and seeing a scattering of very enthusiastic posts for Just Cause that seem suspiciously like viral marketing, surrounded by post after post of people who have actually played the game saying it's complete crap. Again, I'm not accusing anyone, but it just seems a little odd... :icon_confused:
I think I'll wait for the serious review sites to weigh in.

Please.. The whole "Fear" of Viral marketing is far worse than the reality of it.. OO degraded pretty badly because anyone that would post ANYTHING about a new game was chastised for being a viral marketer.  Lets try to NOT jump to conclusions here.

With that being said, there are few demos that were more played around here than Just Cause for the PC.. My kids STILL fire up that demo to run free and explore and try new things.. One of my favorite flawed games was Boiling Point, Just Cause almost smells like a refined version of that.  Hence, we are purchasing it.

i actually thought the demo was kind of fun, but i'm still probably going to wait until a price drop on this one.  the reviews are universally mediocre, and they all seem to mention numerous glitches in the game, as well as a control scheme that seriously screws you over during vehicle use and firefights.

I enjoyed the demo personally, didn't find anything particularly sucky about it. Perhaps, I suck and it's suckiness matches up well with my personal suckitude.  Hopefully I have contributed enough to the community here not to be suspected of viral marketing. though I should be getting paid for making a few of you suckers buy TDU. Hmm, Just Cause isn't an Atari game too, is it?

Ya forgot to mention that Just Cause also got an 8.8 on IGN. (for some reason there's 2 different reviews, the 8.8 is given at the end of the UK review which is different than the one marked 6.

I also really enjoyed the Just Cause demo once I got past the first initial hatred of how they just dumped you into the middle of sky-diving and trying to land on a freaking car right away.  The reviews have been pretty lukewarm as mentioned, but from the ones I read (IGN and IGN-UK) the problems they mentioned didn't seem to be things that would affect my view on the game too negatively.  Plus,  I was just kind of happy to see an open-world action game that didn't involve ganstas and bitches. 

I admit that trying to play the PC demo was an exercise in frustration, though, since the vehicle controls were so damn touchy using the keyboard and the cars slid all over hell.  I can understand anyone who played that version being pretty negative on it. 

Plus, I forsee a delay in Crackdown since official word has been so quiet about it lately.  Unless Microsoft has just really dropped the hype ball and is plan on rolling it out and letting it die quietly before Gears of War hits (which would make me sad).

the size of the island,you can go anywhere,freedom,vehicles,cars,jetskis bikes,speedboats helecopters,planes,...taking a plane as high as she goes and then you jumping out and the draw distance on the 360 is an amzing view of the island while you are skydiving,stunts you can perform(again especially in the planes),side missions are great,normal story missions are a good difficulty level(meaning i can do them)..that mission in the demo having to land on a car i have not yet come across...yet you can use your grapple hook to tag on to cars that makes you paraglide through the streets

the island is the best though...its not like far cry,its massive,it has jungles,rivers,cities,towns,airports...and as i said ,you can go anywhere...yes,its a GTA clone,but IMO,one that is a lot better than saints row and the godfather to name two......i highly recommend a renting if you dont wish to buy it...i am having a lot of fun with the game...and some of the achievements are good(i just got the 1000m base jump achievement)

oh and the cut scenes arent great (graphically)..but they do the job

oh,but the water effects are great...heard there is a shark about in the waters,but yet to see one

I've been looking around and I see alot of people saying Q1 2007 for Crackdown.

I would be a little disappointed if this is the case, but I would be much more disappointed if it got released during the holiday rush without being polished and no hype just to get it out the door.  Hopefully they will give official word on it soon. 

EDIT: I just checked out the new preview at Team XBox and they also have the release date listed as Q1 2007.  Not official, but pretty likely I guess.
