Because my soul still burns, it's time for another Weekly Release List:
PS2: MLB Power Pros 2008 Summer Athletics
PS3: Soulcalibur IV
PSP:
360: Soulcalibur IV Spectral Force 3 Summer Athletics
Wii: King of Clubs MLB Power Pros 2008 SNK Arcade Classics V.1 Summer Athletics
DS: Suzuki Superbikes
PC: Beijing Olympics 2008 City Life 2008 Edition Everlight Hunting Unlimited 2009 Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI
Another slow week, short of exactly one game (Soulcalibur), or two, if you love SNK games. To buy Soulcalibur or not to buy though...
What are you buying this week?

Probably nothing from that list.
I've got an itch to play a new racing game though on the 360; not sure what I want to grab. Thinking either Forza 2 or PGR4, but what I really want is an F1 racer...

If you're looking for less a racing sim and more an arcade style racer with tons of cool things to do, check out Burnout: Paradise. I got it for 20 bucks from gamefly's used game sale (which I think is still going on) and have been impressed with the open world racing format. much fun. but if you're looking for deep customization and exacting racing simulation, Forza2 can't be beat.

I think it will be nothing this week - though I may check out the Wii Summer Athletics (not for me, though, lol). I did buy some SkullCandy earbuds for my DS yesterday, though - and they are super!

I would consider Burnout: Paradise but I stop having fun 'racing' on the burnout series about an hour in and start enjoying crashing into stuff after that. I never really finished the previous Burnout on the 360 - only spent a couple nights with it. I'll probably snag Forza2 tonight - I was poking around on Gamestop and I see it comes used with Marvel Ultimate Alliance (which I'm interested in anyways) for under $20. What about Dirt? How was that as far as Rally Racing goes?

With a release list like that, Soulcalibur can't help but win...
Still, it looks cool, I'm seriously considering it. I'm also worried about the PSP release list..but I think that's a topic for another thread.

How was that as far as Rally Racing goes? Dirt was a great game as far as I'm concerned. I played the crap out of it. Just be aware that you aren't only driving rally cars and that there are some different types of races with trophy trucks, desert trucks, etc. I also think PGR4 is a great game, especially if you can get it cheap these days. I haven't played Grid yet (just the demo), but it's on my list of things to get when price drops. As for this week, I will probably be buying Soulcalibur IV[360].

Soulcalibur IV [360] is a possibility for me, depending on how reviewers feel about the analog stick control.
This weeks VC games are Chase HQ [TG-16] and Art of Fighting 2 [NeoGeo]. Our #1 classic gaming guru at work, 'Dan the Man', says that these 2 are to be avoided at all cost as in don't even think about it. I've personally tried to get into the Art of Fighting games on gametap and I've always felt they were inferior to Street fighter and the 2nd Fatal Fury series amongst others. The problem with Chase HQ is that it's apparently a very poor port of a good arcade game. The Wiiware game this week is Pong Toss. I don't know anything about the game, but the title sure doesn't inspire me to get it.

Soooo, I'm the only person that's interested in Spectral Force 3? If it gets even one mediocre or better review, I will probably pick it up.
I will also proabbly get Soul Calibur 4 for the 360 if anyoen (Cmon Fry's!) puts it on sale.

It seems like it has been quite a while since I last purchased a new game. I think GTA IV was the last one. I've been itching for something new, but there just hasn't been anything that interests me. Being that our vacuum shat the bed this morning it looks like this week I'll be using my Best Buy card to buy a vacuum instead of a game or DVDs.

Guys,
Any idea where Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI will be retailing in the US? Did a quick search at Gamestop, Amazon, BestBuy, GoGamer and came up with nothing.
I've always been interested in trying one of these games but playing it on the PS2 never appealed to me...
Thanks,
Bill

dante if you grab it before i find a copy, toss some impressions up if you have some time okay?
oh and if i understand correctly, the characters are an amalgamation of players from other rpgs right? do i have to understand anything about them? im more of a "gameplay" guy than a "story" guy, but i dont want to be lost as far as how to play the game / use skills etc because ive never seen any of these chaps before

Geometry Wars 2
+1 - Action-packed modes: Unlock all six of these innovative and challenging modes -- Deadline, Evolved, King, Pacifism, Waves, and Sequence. - Multiplayer mayhem: Step up the intensity with four-player multiplayer. Versus, team, and co-op modes offer different types of challenges and strategies. Pick your ship and pwn the grid.- Achievements: Go for 12 entertaining and inventive ways to boost your gamerscore. - Geoms: Collect Geoms to increase your multiplier -- but act fast, they won't last forever! - New enemies: Shoot down all the usual suspects, then say "Hello" to new enemies that have found additional ways to hunt you down. I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a Live Arcade game.

Fortunately my wife is a big Geometry Wars fan so I'll always have at least one other person to play with. Online MP would have been nice, but I'm at least happy to have local MP.
