"Let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds." "That's a big Twinkie."
If you have no clue whatsoever what I'm talking about, then it's time for you to turn in your movie card and completely ignore what will be the hit game for this week.
For those of you still here, it's time for the list:
PS2: Ghostbusters: The Videogame Guitar Hero Smash Hits
PS3: Ghostbusters: The Videogame Guitar Hero Smash Hits
PSP: Ghostbusters: The Videogame
360: Ghostbusters: The Videogame Guitar Hero Smash Hits Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers (XBLA) Sam & Max Save the World (XBLA)
Wii: Big League Sports: Summer Divas on Ice Ghostbusters: The Videogame Guitar Hero Smash Hits Let's Tap Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! Vertigo Space Harrier (VC - Arcade) Eduardo the Samurai Toaster (WiiWare) Let's CATCH (WiiWare) Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! (WiiWare)
DS: Big League Sports: Summer Discovery Kids: Parrot Pals Divas on Ice Flower, Sun and Rain Ghostbusters: The Videogame Mario Calculator (DSiShitware) Mario Clock (DSiShitware)
PC: America's Army 3 Ghostbusters: The Videogame
As for me, it should be pretty obvious - I'm grabbing Ghostbusters for the 360. For the rest of you, I have no clue, which is why I always ask the question:
What are you buying this week?

I'm going to wait and see with Ghostbusters, partly because I'm not sure if I'll go with the 360 or the Wii version. I'll wait for a few imp's & rev's on the XBLA MtG game, but I could easily see myself pushing the dload button on that game come Wednesday.

If Worthplaying is to be believed, Rocket Riot and the first season of Sam & Max are also coming to XBLA this week. I'll be getting Magic The Gathering, and (hopefully) I'll be getting my copy of Class of Heroes that should have been out last week.

Ghostbusters [360] Magic [XBLA] Let's Tap [Wii] - maybe. I like the concept a lot, and I've been hearing good things, but I can't imagine that everyone tapping on a table at once doesn't mess everyone up. I was thinking of flower, sun rain, because it's by the guy who did No More Heroes, but the reviews have been abysmal. 55.71% on Gamerankings. Out of 17 reviews, only 3 are above a 6.

Wiiware:
Eduardo the Samurai Toaster - looks quirky and fun Rainbow Islands: The Towering Adventure - does not look quirky or fun Let's Catch - play catch on your Wii, just in time for Father's Day so father's can get the Wii to do all the work.
DSiWare:
Mario Calculator & Mario Clock - How many calculators and clocks do we need? Sold separately
VC:
Space Harrier - Not sure which version this is yet, but it may be arcade

I'll pick up Ghostbusters for either the Wii or 360 if the reviews are solid. I'd rather support the 360 but, if the Wii controller gets rave reviews, I'll pick it up for my Nintendo instead.

very tempted by Ghostbusters...waiting for some impressions from the crew here before taking the leap though. i'm also curious about any word on differences between the 360 and PS3 versions that would steer me to pick one over the other...

I must have missed the hype here? Why is everyone buying a game based on a 20 year old movie? I'm not saying its bad, but... How do you guys know its that interesting? It has no MP as well?

I must have missed the hype here? Why is everyone buying a game based on a 20 year old movie? I'm not saying its bad, but... How do you guys know its that interesting? It has no MP as well? Because it's the Ghostbusters, that's why! Yeah, it took them 20 years to make what looks to be a great game, but it's a game that needed to be made. Before, we had these pieces of crap (links all go to the Angry Videogame Nerd, so they're not exactly safe for work), so it's great to see the movie license turn out something good. And I've also heard that the 360 version is superior to the PS3 one graphically - something about how the PS3 is missing a final pass over the graphics when you attack things or the torch effects on the wall whenever you miss. Finally - Space Harrier is the arcade version according to reports. Looks like MAME is alive and well on the Wii.

Ghostbusters is a great, untouched IP. I'm glad we're getting a game based on an old classic movie - that isn't named 'lego ghostbusters' and actually has a new story for you to play. (Correct me if I'm wrong but the Lego games typically don't add to the story, do they? They typically have movie scenes and then expand the movie to fit the length of a video game? I've never played very far into one) I'm hoping for some more 80s spiritual sequels as well. Gremlins. Police academy. Back to the Future. Bill and Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure. This week however, it's all about some Magic for me.

I must have missed the hype here? Why is everyone buying a game based on a 20 year old movie? I'm not saying its bad, but... How do you guys know its that interesting? It has no MP as well? A lot of the talent from the original movie got involved in the game, and Dan Aykroyd has gone as far as to call it the 3rd movie. Standard hype-talk, maybe, but a lot of the early videos have made it look like they did an awesome job recreating the mood and humor of the movies. I'm jaded and skeptical enough to wait for some other people's first impressions, but my PKE meter I made out of cardboard as a kid is showing a very high amount of potential.

VC:
Space Harrier - Not sure which version this is yet, but it may be arcade
It's the arcade version and despite it having a huge wow factor when it debuted, as far as VC gameplay goes it isn't as good as the Genesis version. I've been told by classic gaming gang at work that both are better than Space Harrier II though, but that isn't saying too much.

Razgon, you're first two sentences are eerily almost exactly the one I posed several months back. And Bullwinkle, all professional reviews of Suda 51 games have to be approached with the knowledge that since he is waaaaay out in left field that he will automatically lose a few points in any review. That being said, the reviews didn't make the game sound very fun to me. So in short: nothing this week for me! Woo hoo!
