Come out of the rain (depending on where you live) and run right down to your local gaming store, as there's plenty of games due out this week:

PS2:
Eureka Seven Vol. 2: The New Vision
Raiden III
Red Star
The Plan
Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2

PS3:

PSP:

Pocket Pool
Valhalla Knights

360:
3D Mini Golf (Live Arcade)
Gyruss (Live Arcade)

Wii:
Bust-a-Move Bash!
Bonk's Revenge (VC)
Punch Out!! (VC)
Virtua Fighter 2 (VC)

DS:
Classic Action: Devilish
Pokemon Diamond
Pokemon Pearl

PC:
Made Man
UFO: Extraterrestrials

Or not. biggrin
So, what are you buying this week? As for me, I was going to get Valhalla Knights, but after this extremely negative review, I've decided otherwise. I guess it's time to finish a few of the games I have lying around.

Since Pokemon Diamond and Pearl [DS] are releasing on Saturday the 22nd, shouldn't they be on the list as well?
I might be buying Super Paper Mario and will probably be looking for an extra DS Lite and Pokemon on the weekend.

Is Red Star finally releasing?   I'm shocked.  I never thought that would get out.

Pokemon tempts me.  I've not played any of them since the GB releases (Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver).  Anyone have any comments on the DS versions?

Haven't been following this new Pokemon too closely, but I think the big bullet points are:

I haven't played one of these since the GB Color version, but I might just pick this up to see how it looks on the DS.

No reason it should be embarassing! A good game is a good game, no matter what age group it may seem to be aimed at.

Honestly? I feel more embarassed playing God of War than Pokemon or Viva Pinata.

I thought the same thing until Farscry shed some light on the game for me and we bought Ruby/Sapphire. Now my daughter is huge into this as well. Huge! We're starting to play together and have an absolute blast. There is more strategy to the game than one would expect from a "kiddie game". Of course the other aspects like catching/naming/training your own Pokemon, growing plants/trees, and the contests are a nice bonus too smile

Do either of these new Pokemon releases have a GoW-like sex game? The stylus could be a joy. Ooo... there's a book we could write; "The Joy of Stylus". Or maybe "Stylusutra"?

As far as forum trading goes, from the exclusives list I think Pearl is the one I'm going to get.

Just out of morbid curiosity, do all these Pokemon games tie together beyond having the same characters (or do they even have the same characters?)?

My son is big into Pokemon, and I've enjoyed the previous versions anyway, so this is a no brainer for us.  I'll let him make the choice of Diamond vs Pearl, as it doesn't really make much difference to me.

Many of the same pokemons are available in each game. However, each game usually has some very powerful pokemon(s) as well as some unique environments that are exclusive to that game. If you played one of the GBA versions you will get a "been there before" feeling if you play another one. From my experience kids don't seem bothered by this. I personally know my son and his friends have put in some serios time in each of the Ruby, Green Leaf, Fire Red and Emerald versions.

By connecting a gameboy link cable you can trade pokemons amongst the varous GBA versions as well as upload them to the GC version for arena battles.

I still don't understand why they haven't done a big console version of these that's just like the hanheld versions.  They always change them in some way, and they're just not as good.

thanks for the heads up, d (i read that review & a couple-3 more that were a bit less damning, tho pretty much damning all the same smile ). yeah, it sounds pretty messed up, but i'm hoping not so messed up as to be total shit. i remember reading similar slams (shitty camera, painful grind) against games (eg, monster hunter: freedom) that i personally ended up loving, & vk looks pretty enough to at least give it a shot (plus, as mentioned, i'll play anything right now to get me away from chocobo tales!)...

i'll be sharing some impressions, for sure...

UFO looks fun(video here: http://www.ufo-extraterrestrials.com/download.htm ) but it has been delayed officially on that site until may 1st.  Kind of psyched, looks like they are doing what people wanted, without adding too much extra stuff to the old x-com dynamic.  No stairs in there though, just elevators.

I'll be picking up one of the Pokemon, I've wanted to get into one of the series but I never got around to playing the Red gameboy one I picked up years ago, and getting rid of my gba for a ds has eliminated any chance of that.

Very good chance I'll pick up 3d mini-gold adventures for xbla this week too, depends on how much I enjoy the demo.

Indeed, I'm considering Valhalla Knights anyway because:

a) I want to support XSEED games for bringing over several games (Shadow Hearts: FTNW, this one, etc.)
b) Whenever I see the game in screenies or movies, it looks like fun
c) The "negatives" don't sound game-breaking - like you mentioned, Monster Hunter Freedom suffered from some shitty camera problems & painful grind (both of which are mentioned for VK)

Anywho, I've been looking forward to VK for awhile.  Will probably pick it up regardless.

Definitely Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.  I will let my son pick one and I will take the other.  The Pokemon games are incredibly addicting.

I'm also looking forward to Ancient Wars: Sparta (PC) coming out next week.
