Isn't Drakensang coming out this week for the PC as well?  I know that's one I'm looking at getting.

I thought that was last week actually. It's not showing up on this week's EB releases, so I'm not quite sure.

Gamestop is showing it as 'usually ships in 24 hours' but none of the local stores has it yet.

Killzone 2 foo shoo..I am however interested in Star Ocean and 50 Cents Blood Sweat Sand and what ever else 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. I may get 2 this week since it looks like Halo Wars got a 6.5 from GS, Will rent instead.

edited to add the correct name.

Yeah, I just checked and it was not available at any of our stores yet either even though it is available within 24 hours.  Same thing with Puzzle Quest.  I guess I could just order both of them smile  Or I could get them from Amazon smile

Both Drakensang and Galactrix for PC have been out last week, so either some Gamestops are really slow in getting them or won't be stocking them at all.  As for the XBLA version of Galactrix, I don't think it ever had a release date other than Q1 2009, so who knows when it will show up.  I thought Puzzle Quest was fairly popular, but there seems to be almost no interest in Galactrix, at least for PC.

Gamespot seems to be the odd-man out though, the metacritic so far is 82% and no other site has scored it less than 7. Out of all the 360 strategy games to date, only Civilization has scored higher. It's certainly sounding like it won't be on the level of the AAA PC RTS's, but it's also sounding much better than the mediocrity that GS claims.

Amazon was showing 2 to 3 weeks for Drakensang to ship, so I ended up ordering it from NewEgg - a couple of bucks off and free shipping right now. It went out that same day.

Is the Legacy of Ys: Books I and II supposed to be any good? I remember lusting after that game when it was on the Turbografix 16 (I think), but I've never actually played it.

I'd recommend waiting for reviews to see if it's just a remake or has added content. If you have a Wii you can get the TG-16 game on VC for $8. I didn't bite the bullet on the download, but I did play it a bit at a friends. The story, graphics and music were all nice but the combat appeared to be all automated. It still worked, but it made the game sort of feel less hands-on to me.

Reviews have been out for a while on some sites.

From Metacritic:

Quote
85 RPG Fan
In the end, Legacy of Ys made the transition to DS well, presenting an enjoyable experience even to those who have played the games to death.

75Nintendo Power
Not everyone will appreciate Legacy of Ys's retro charm, but if you're looking for a solid adventure not bogged down by needless convolution this one fits the bill. [Feb 2009, p.90]

70GamePro
An RPG classic revitalized and re-engineered from the ground up, this decades-old adventure holds its own in this remarkably solid remake.

50 Game Informer
Legacy is a little too "classic" for its own good; it needs more than a facelift to appeal to the modern gamer. [Mar 2009, p.95]

There seems to still be a difference of opinion on how updated it is, though.

It just seems so different, at least based on my time playing the demo. And you can now get it on Steam starting about now.

Oh sweet, it's on steam now? I downloaded the full demo of PQ:G and my god, it's so much better than the first. I am sure I'm going to end up double dipping again, if nothing to support these guys. 40 bucks is still a 1/3 cheaper than most shitty games, heh.

I'm very seriously considering the 50 Cent game.  Every review I've read talks about how much damn fun it is.

The main thing holding me back is the soundtrack.  I'm not sure how much Fiddy I can take.

From what I have heard the graphics obviously got an overhaul and you actually do more than run into enemies during combat. I wouldn't say the combat was automated originally though, just not animated.

It is one of my fondest Master System memories as well, even though I got stuck towards the end and never finished. It was only Book I as well.
