And the VC games: ZANAC (NESฎ, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): ZANAC is a vertically scrolling shoot-'em-up game that was released in November 1986. Take control of the state-of-the-art fighter, ZANAC, with the objective of destroying the bases of the mechanized enemy forces. Use your full array of regular weapons as well as eight special weapons to clear the 12 intense areas of the game. Be careful, though, as the game changes the degree of difficulty in real time based on how well you play. This ensures that it feels like you're experiencing a new game every time you play.
Eternal Champions (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, rated T for Teen - Animated Blood, Animated Violence, 800 Wii Points): This 2-D fighting game introduces a cast of different characters that met untimely deaths in their lives on Earth. Now they have been given a chance to compete against each other, with the winner taking on the Eternal Champion, the ultimate fighter in the universe. The reward for defeating the Eternal Champion is a return to Earth for the opportunity to avenge death and restore balance to the universe. Choose from nine unique characters with a variety of fighting styles, and bring your best moves to defeat all comers in your quest to topple the Eternal Champion.
The Dynastic Hero (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1 player, rated E for Everyone - Comic Mischief, 800 Wii Points): The Dynastic Hero is an action RPG featuring a cast of insect characters. The story begins with the invasion of their peaceful homeland of Tarron by the evil Drilkor Empire. Rushing to the insects' aid is Dyna, the prince of Beetras. Take control of Dyna as he battles through action-filled stages. Equip weapons and items to vanquish the relentless foes, and acquire special items that enable you to brave the journey across the perilous desert or open sea. But it's not just all action. Correctly answer multiple-choice quizzes, and play the ocarina to find the right melody to open doors. Plus, there are countless traps and other puzzles packed into this fun game to keep you entertained and ensure you continue coming back for more. Ah, Eternal Champions. Fun game for its time, but it really hasn't held up well, IMHO.

no games for me this week, but I may finally pick up a PS3 as all the PotC movies are finally out on Blu Ray, and that purchase will be followed closely by a HD-DVD player for the best of both worlds.

Dragon Ball Z:BT3 [Wii] is a possibility if the reviews are promising. I was a big fan of BT2 and this version adds online fighting. The PS2 version which has already shipped also improved the fluidness of the adventure mode, so I'm hoping the Wii version does the same. I'm also looking for reviews and impression of The Golden Compass. I already have too many games to play so both of these might have to wait until after the holidays. Much better week for VC releases than the previous 3. I'll eventually download The Dynastic Hero, which sounds like a repackaged Wonder Boy in Monster World with greatly improved music.

Yesterday I bought CoD4 (Circuit City for 39.99), a Wii zapper, and Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. Wow, considering the Zapper comes bundled with Link's Crossbow Training, it sounds like you're set for sometime for...umm...zapping! The Zapper and these 2 games are definitely on my front burners for games to get. I'd really like to get some impressions of both LCT and RE:UC from a fellow GT'er; any chance you could post some impressions?

The Zapper and these 2 games are definitely on my front burners for games to get. I'd really like to get some impressions of both LCT and RE:UC from a fellow GT'er; any chance you could post some impressions? I haven't played Resident Evil yet, but I can give you some impressions on Link's Crossbow training. I played through the first couple of levels just to test the zapper out. When I was driving home after I bought it, I panicked, realizing I use the Nyko battery covers on my Wiimotes because I used the Nyko charger (the charger is the reason I can't use the wiimore jackets, not that I would want to). When I got it home, I was relieved to find out that the wiimote fit in the spot for it just fine. By the way, I don't think the wiimote would fit in the zapper if it had the jacket on. The game is pretty simple, but they did do some nice variations on the two levels I played. There was a board with just shooting targets, a board where you are in a canoe flowing down a river and being attacked by fish shooting projectiles at you, a board where you maneuvered through a moblin camp (I felt uncomfortable on the controls with this one because you turn by putting the reticle at the edge of the screen and move with the nunchuck analog stick and it just didn't click with me...might need some time to adjust), a board which was kind of like trap shooting with flying skulls, one where gorons would spin and then have a target that you either were or were not supposed to hit, etc. So, pretty varied and fun if you like shooting games. As for the zapper itself, it works pretty well. There are adjustments you can do for the height of the reticle in relation to where you are pointing it and to the sensitivity. I felt it was pointing to exactly where I wanted to point it to and had no issues there.

It's not a bad game, it's just not different enough from the other previous games to be worth it's full price. Maybe it'll be good on the PSP?
