Another week, another 7 days closer to that wonderful holiday of the year. No, not Christmas, but the New Year, where you can drink to excess for absolutely no reason at all.  Tongue

PS2:
NCAA March Madness 08

PS3:
Blacksite Area 51
NCAA March Madness 08
Unreal Tournament 3
Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge

PSP:

360:
NCAA March Madness 08

Wii:
Kawasaki 4x4 Quad Bikes
Indianapolis 500 Legends
Showtime Championship Boxing
Super Swing Golf Season 2
Baseball Stars 2 (VC)
Ghosts 'n Goblins (VC)
Pokemon Snap (VC)

DS:
Luxor: Pharoah's Challenge

PC:
The Golden Compass

As tempting as Lockdown has made Gal Civ 2 look via his story, I'm gonna have to keep my wallet closed this week as there's nothing exciting on the list above.

What are you buying this week?

Nothing new.  I did, however, get hooked on Guild Wars this past week, so I might grab Factions or Nightfall.

I will probably pick up Super Swing Golf 2.  Assuming they fixed it.  I enjoyed the first one, but there were some problems.

I bought Folkore over the weekend.  I pretty much own every title I was interested in at this point, except a couple things on DS, which I have been holding back on in anticipation of my flight over to Berlin, Germany.  I didn't realize there was a sequel to Super Swing Golf coming out.  I never bought the original, though I had a great deal of interest.  I will read up on it and if it speaks to me, I might get it.

It looks like Kidz Sports: Basketball and Mythmakers: Orbs of Doom are coming for the Wii as well.

I could be interested in Mythmakers, but I have a feeling it'll be no good.

Also the PC Adventure The Lost Crown is coming.  My laptop is chock full of adventure games at the moment, so I'll be passing unless it scores in the 90s.

I had thought GalCiv2-Twilight of the Arnor got pushed back to mid-January... but since I pre-purchased it so I could play the beta, I'm not entirely sure of that.

Other than that though... nada.

I thought they held a vote which then pushed it to January as well. If it hits this week I'll pick it up, otherwise this will be the fourth week in a row of "Nothing".

PC... I'm not crazy about the level of difficulty with playing HL2 on the 360... I spend more time at half-health than I ever did on PC.

I've done my research.

Apparently a lot of the earlier "IT'S UNPLAYABLE!" observations (1up, IGN) have been debunked by Kotaku and Destructoid.  There are some framerate issues, yes, but the biggest offender is Episode 2.  This is something I can entirely overlook since my computer didn't exactly run HL2 flawlessly.

Plus I get to play Portal.  biggrin

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be released or not. But it said it was there, so onto the list it went.

And here's the VC games of the week:

Quote
Pokémon Snap (Nintendo 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): As one of the most unique games in a renowned series, Pokémon Snap was the first truly 3-D Pokémon game and introduced the phenomenon to the Nintendo 64. Travel to Pokémon Island and meet Professor Oak to begin a safari, taking the best possible photographs of 63 different Pokémon as they exist in the wild, undisturbed by humans. This is not as easy as it sounds—the island has many types of climates and environments to explore, along with secret activities and hidden passages to discover. Plus, some of the Pokémon can be a little shy and won’t pose for the camera unless you tease them with special items. After you’re done, submit one picture of each Pokémon to Professor Oak, and he’ll judge it based on size, pose, technique and number of Pokémon captured.

Ghosts’n Goblins (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone—Mild Animated Violence, 500 Wii Points): Ghosts’n Goblins was a popular arcade game before it made the leap to the NES in 1986. Like later games in the series, Ghosts’n Goblins presents quite a challenge to players brave enough to take on the role of Arthur and delve into the realm of demons and monsters to rescue the kidnapped princess. Choose your weapons wisely and take advantage of their strengths to deal with the situation at hand. Pass through the six gates that stand between you and Astaroth, and teach him a lesson in chivalry he’ll never forget. Demonstrating a high level of technical prowess for a game of its era, Ghosts’n Goblins presents a unique and unforgettable universe. The stage for adventure is set. Are you up to the test?

BASEBALL STARS 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 900 Wii Points): Lace up your cleats and step onto the diamond with the pros of BASEBALL STARS 2. You’ll find everything you’d expect in a classic game of baseball, but with an arcade feel and intense action that distinguish it from the pack. Pick one of six unique teams from cities around the world, then get ready for nine innings of excitement, whether you’re taking on the computer in a 15-game tournament or squaring off against a friend. There are two modes of game play, so even the most inexperienced player can compete at the major-league level (with a little computer-aided fielding). Watch as the game develops through split-screen views and close-up shots worthy of any highlight film, and see if you can catch the numerous over-the-top animations of the large and detailed player models. Think you have what it takes to win the pennant?

Don't buy Blacksite...I wanted to enjoy the game I really did, but it just sucks.

+ a billion

sp is a last gen game all around, poor implementation of squad controls, shooting mechanics, morale, graphics, weapons, etc.  sad excuse for a storyline with NO aliens involved.  mp is equally last gen and it also stutters like a mo-fo.  glad i only rented this and it's going back in the mail today.

avoid the ps3 version.  the demos were higher quality than the end game.

oh, and i'm not buying anything except maybe the rock band song pack of the week.

Same with 360...the teaser demo was nice, little did I know it was THE ONLY DECENT PART OF THE GAME.  It was funny I finally got to the part in the demo, and it was actually fun, then poof turned back to crap.  I also enjoyed the looooong pointless driving sequence, it was like a freaking tourbus or something, with a jump thrown in.  And don't get me started on their lame attempts at political humour...

i didn't specify, but i played the 360 version.  you know it's bad when a company releases 3 demos for the game

hell, even the first demo way back seemed like more fun than this.
