And VC releases this week: Castlevania® II Simon's Quest (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): In this one-player adventure, you'll take on the role of Simon Belmont once again and duel to the death with Count Dracula. Grab your legendary whip, Vampire Killer, and roam freely through Transylvania on a quest to find the count's missing body parts-these are the key to breaking an evil curse. This quest won't be easy, though, for you must battle hideous fiends who stalk the land. In addition to the intense action and tight control the Castlevania series is known for, this sequel also introduced several unique game-play elements into the fold. Build experience the longer you play, buy weapons and items from merchants, or talk with villagers to get clues (some of which are false). Watch as day turns to night and then back again. Take a deep breath, steady your nerves, and help Simon end his curse and defeat the count once and for all.
SAMURAI-GHOST™ (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older - Animated Blood and Violence, 600 Wii Points): This action platformer features a samurai ghost from the depths of the underworld. In a past war, Kagekiyo managed to defeat the shogun Yoritomo and his clan. However, their evil spirits were not completely destroyed, and now, in the world known as Dark Side, they seek the time of their rebirth. In order to shatter those ambitions, Kagekiyo must make his way across seven zones and head for "The Heart of the Darkside" where Yoritomo lies in wait. Use spirit weapons to power up your sword, or other items, such as candles to recover health, and defeat the endless hordes of enemies. Each zone is not only protected by a boss but also includes demons as well as real samurai from 12th-century Japan. Get ready for some intense one-on-one combat action.
MAGICIAN LORD (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen - Blood and Fantasy Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1990 and regarded as one of the NEOGEO's earliest signature games, this side-scrolling platformer mixes action with the mystical world of fantasy. A magician named Elta, last descendant of the famed Magician Lord, takes on an epic adventure to save the world from the evil Gul-Agieze. Elta must battle through eight stages, collecting the eight tomes of power that are key to defeating Gul-Agieze and his evil plans. By obtaining orbs in one of three colors (elements) that appear during the game, Elta's offensive powers and jumping abilities can be strengthened. The effect varies considerably depending on the combination of elements, though, and Elta can transform into six different forms: Waterman, Dragon Warrior, Shinobi, Samurai, Raijin or Poseidon. Can you help Elta to become the new Magician Lord? "I proccess Dracula's Rib."

Yep, lots of games to choose from. Big buying week. I'm worried about a rush job on some of these.
I'm definitely buying: Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii - should be getting it today Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (VC) Hellgate: London - I really hope this isn't a disappointment. I have been looking forward to this game for over a year.
I will wait for reviews on: Panzar Tactics (DC) The witcher (PC) Chessmaster (PC)

I bought a 360 yesterday!!
I will be buying a new wireless access point (or router if I can't get the AP to work) and a long optical cable. Lots of XBL demos for me this week.
I'll be curious to see reviews on HGL, The Witcher, and Banhunt 2!

Battalion Wars 2 and Timeshift are both possibilties, but I'll be waiting for favourable reviews. I won't be buying GH III because...well... I just got GH II. The fact that Viva Pinata: Party Animals has been released means I'll probably pick up Viva Pinata for my kids this week since it may possibly see a further price drop. Another blah week for VC releases. Other than Magician Lord, the other games don't sound like they're worth the few dollars they cost. And from what friends have told me ML is really just a Ghouls & Ghosts wanabee.

I'll probably get The Simpsons Game eventually, but not likely this week.
I'm pretty sure FlatOut: Head-On has been delayed for a couple months and won't be out this week.

Picked up the GH3 bundle (360) yesterday. Might give Front Mission DS and Disgaea PSP a whirl but I'd really much rather hold off buying them until I can rent either or read the impressions here.

HG:London - Maybe. If I would stop waffling and make a decision... The Witcher - Not yet. I'll wait until CK finishes and gives it a thumbs up or thumbs down. Barbie as the Island Princess - Devil's Christmas present.

Hellgate: Londoooooooon!!!! - I'm also going to pick up Guitar Hero 3 based upon the impressions I've been reading and hearing how Fyedaddy has liked the game. I was waiting for confirmation it didn't screw things up. And with that, my purchases for 2007 are at an end (budget & time restrictions). Bring on 2008!

XBLA game this week is the sequel to Mutant Storm:
"Just in time for Halloween, “Mutant Storm Empire” is packed with sci-fi action as players crush gangs of robots, smash swarms of UFOs and demolish massive enemy bosses. “Mutant Storm Empire,” the latest shooter from PomPom games and the sequel to “Mutant Storm Reloaded,” features 16 unique levels spread over four richly detailed and varied worlds. The game offers a seamless experience where players move from room to room without having to enter a loading screen, in addition to offline co-op and multiplayer LIVE support for two people.
“Mutant Storm Empire” will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 9 a.m. GMT (2 a.m. PDT)."
I'm tempted, but I need my own Xbox back first.

Picked up GH3 already. I would like to get Batallation Wars 2 and possibly Manhunt 2 (depends on reviews), but I already need to catch up with Ratchet and Clank, Eye of Judgment, and Folklore from previous weeks. This time of year is ridiculous.

Panzer Tactics!
With Rock band on the horizon, I'm taking a pass on GHIII for now even though the song list is much much better.
Timeshift could be interesting, but I'm just about FPS'd out and I must dedicate some time to Half Life 2 before Mass Effect releases.

360: Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, yes The Simpsons Game, yes TimeShift, was leaning to no, but good reviews could sway me Virtua Fighter 5, the demo didn't do it for me, but Eurogamer loved the final game Viva Pinata: Party Animals, the demo was good, but this'll be a someday not today
Wii: Battalion Wars 2, even though I never seem to like strategy games as much as I think I will. Manhunt 2, creepy but apparently effective
DS: Panzer Tactics DS Probably, but see my note for BW II above

I already purchased GHIII on the 360 yesterday.
I will buy Disgaea on the PSP at some point. Not sure about this week though.
I am still leaning toward purchasing Hellgate London despite being disapointed by the demo.
I will be renting Battalion Wars 2 for the Wii. I loved the 1st one but the previews I've seen of BW2 haven't impressed me.
I might take the plunge and grab the Stranglehold Collectors Edition on the PS3. I like that they included Hard Boiled on Blu Ray and would like to encourage other publishers to use the extra storage of BR for actual movies instead of hours of cut scenes.
(Edit...Yikes that's alot of stuff for me this week.)

Insane week. I still have a big backlog of things the past couple months, so I'm *trying* to cut my purchases down this week(especially with mass effect+rock band in 3 weeks...)
Already decided to pass on gh3 for now, with rock band so close. Debating between Simpsons, Naruto, Timeshift, Manhunt 2, Battalion Wars 2.

i grabbed front mission ds last night, so that will fulfill my portable strategy gaming need. i will check reviews for panzer tactics though.
witcher and hgl are tempting, but i'm unsure of what was cut from the witcher's US release other than teh bewbz, and hgl has been getting further down the buy list.
