even though it will be shelved as soon as Batman Origins is unlocked. (and what a crock that is, making us all wait until Friday)

I could be annoyed that GMG isn't giving out keys for Origins until Friday, but since I got it for $25 with discounts and credits I'm not.  However, GMG has been known to get keys out for pre-load before, even after they have said that they wouldn't.  It just all depends on when they get the keys for distribution.
and guess what I just got in my email smile

I came here just to say the same thing.

Batman for PC and Vita.

And the next Batman game is Batman Arkham Brotherhood

Spoiler for Hiden:
Robin!

Spoiler for Hiden:
he was already in Arkham City and playable in the Harley DLC[/url].
Yeah, but he wasn't really part of the story.

BTW what is up with both Batman games coming out on Friday instead of Tuesday?

It's because there's really no reason why games come out on a Tuesday other than tradition.

Haven't played an FPS yet - I'm not on my gaming rig right now - just on the Surface Pro. Perhaps Bioshock 1 will run, but with 4GB and an intel HD 4000, it's not going to be pretty. Tongue

Do your thumbs hit if you place your thumbs on the analog sticks and move your thumbs toward each other?

Yes they do. The grip is better so youcan rock onto the thumb knuckle a bit better, but as you can see on my original post, the sticks themselves are in the (almost) exact same position.

FYI: None of the PS4 accessories or games are street-dated according to EB Games here in Canada - only the consoles are.

That stick picture only reminds me of how much I'm looking forward to getting a Dualshock controller that doesn't suffer a chemical reaction when left unused for a few weeks. The old sticks used to get... well, sticky. Only if you kept using the DS3 at least once a week would you be able to avoid the problem, but leave it alone for a while, and it'd feel like you'd dipped it in wet glue.

I had a wireless MS mouse that did the same thing. Ick.

The value of the new controller is, IMO a little overblown (having used it for a bit).

The D-pad is no better or worse than the XB1's, and the thumbsticks are better but not perfect. I  find BOTH new controllers L1,2 R1,2 (aka LB,LT RB,RT) are better, but I have concerns.

I found that the DS4's "taint" (t'aint the R1, t'aint the R2) can actually pinch your finger if you're sliding from R2 to R1. Not a huge deal, and MS has no middleground between RB and RT, but I found the "button" portion of RB rides a little higher than I expect to find it.

I'm sure both issues are simply the familiarity of old chafing on the feeling of new.

I *love* the grip on the XB1 sticks... you can lightly brush the stick and it grabs ahold of your fingerprint - basically it means it requires less force to move at different angles and to hold it in place (think lockpicking in AC3, for instance). The deadzone is also much tighter.

I have not used a DS4 on the console itself since Skylanders in September, so I can't comment on the console workings - on Win8.1Pro preview it is very responsive.

just pulled the one I have sitting around out and you're right, the stick does feel odd.  not quite sticky, but waxy.

It's a problem with the plasticy material they used on the sticks. They even went out of their way to point out that the DS4 specifically doesn't have this problem, which is good.

speaking of R1 & R2 (and I'll forgo to obvious joke about your mouse being sticky), how do the lower triggers feel compared to the DS3?  I ended up buying a 3rd party add on (RealTrigger) to make them feel more comfortable as the angle and lack of texture made it easy for your fingers to slip off.

You can't see them, but I have realtriggers on that DS3.

They're softer than the 360s, but they are better than the DS3 (with realtrigger) as they curve in and then back out.

What I find awkward (for me) is that I like to be able to press the button / triggers closer to my fingertips. The concave nature of the 360 is that the LB/RB sit almost all the way down the fingers using them, and you don't have to slide your hands out too par to go to a "fingertip" press. The boxy nature of the DS3/4 design forces your palms into a position of almost facing each other, and to use the narrower buttons I need to pull my fingers away from the top of the controller... remember making goofy "owl-face" gestures with both hands? It feels like that for the L1,R1. The L2,R2 are a little soft for my liking - I don't have a XB1 controller to directly compare at the moment, but I think they ended up going with a softer trigger too.

Got to hold the PS4 Camera (not called Eye-anything anymore) - it's tiny, and it's angle looks to be a manual point thing. The right side (and perhaps the left) anchor, and most of the bar swivels on the pivot.

I did not buy one.

Notice that not only are the sticks on the DS4 farther apart, but they're also much shorter from base to top of pad.

So while you still have a range of movement, you need to move your thumbs less. So thumb collisions that others have complained about are much less likely.

Your thumbs are less likely to slide on the sticks too. You'd have to be holding the sticks with the joints of your thumbs for this to be a problem, I suspect.
