Big news this week is, of course, Cave Story. WiiWareCave StoryPublisher: Nicalis, Inc. Players: 1 ESRB Rating: E10+ (Everyone 10 and Older) – Mild Cartoon Violence, Mild Language Price: 1,200 Wii Points Cave Story takes you into a rare world where a curious race of innocent, rabbit-like creatures called Mimiga run free. You wake up in a dark cave with no memory of who you are, where you came from or why you’re in such a place. Uncovering Mimiga Village, you discover that the once-carefree Mimiga are in danger at the hands of a maniacal scientist. Their only hope rests squarely on the shoulders of a quiet, amnesiac boy who can’t remember his own name. Take control, learn the origins of this world’s power, stop the delusional villain and save the Mimiga. Nintendo DSiWareDrift Street InternationalPublisher: Tantalus Players: 1-4 ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) Price: 800 Nintendo DSi Points Drift Street International is the ultimate high-speed, white-knuckle street racing experience, made exclusively for Nintendo DSiWare. Slide and boost your performance car around challenging city streets in high-intensity midnight races across the United States, United Kingdom and Japan. Precise, responsive controls give you total control of your car – push yourself to the edge and own your opponents. Drift sideways through corners, building your nitrous meter to let you boost past opponents on the next straightaway. Test your skills against challenging, aggressive AI drivers, or take on your friends in four-player head-to-head wireless races. Additionally, each track plays host to arcade-style checkpoint races and challenging speed trials in which you must keep the speed close to the max to avoid elimination. Unmatched speed, smoothness and draw distance are only possible by taking full advantage of the Nintendo DSi hardware. Libera WingPublisher: Pixel Federation Players: 1 ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) – Mild Fantasy Violence Price: 800 Nintendo DSi Points Earth Union controls a large part of outer space. Suddenly, the connection with some of its stations is aborted and there are rumors of enemy ships approaching. Only the captain of the elite fleet Libera Wing can save the people from destruction. Become the captain of Libera Wing and save Earth Union from destruction in this tower- defense-style action-strategy game. Your objective is to combine the right strategy, item usage and abilities of your command ship. There are 36 story levels and 24 quick-play levels waiting for you. Game & Watch: Mario’s Cement FactoryPublisher: Nintendo Players: 1 ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) Price: 200 Nintendo DSi Points Conveyor belts carry tubs of cement to the mixers below. Use the elevators to move Mario to different levels of the factory, dumping cement from the top mixers to the mixers below and into the trucks. Earn points for every load of cement you drop from the mixers to the cement truck. Receive mistake icons by letting a mixer overflow with cement, trying to get on an elevator when you are not level with it, or hitting the floor or ceiling while riding an elevator. Receive three mistake icons and it’s game over! Game & Watch: ChefPublisher: Nintendo Players: 1 ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) Price: 200 Nintendo DSi Points Move the chef to catch and flip the falling ingredients before they hit the floor. Receive three mistake icons and it’s game over. Game & Watch: JudgePublisher: Nintendo Players: 1-2 ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) – Comic Mischief Price: 200 Nintendo DSi Points You have a split second to decide: whack your opponent or duck out of the way? Just so happen to have 1200 Wii points sitting in my account. Huh, kinda convienient? Cave Story it is!
After playing the Just Cause 2 demo, I came to the same conclusion I have with all sandbox games. They're fun for 20 to 30 minutes of blowing stuff up, but ultimately they bore me to tears.
I also went on a buying spree last week with Muramasa, Sky Crawlers, Little Kings Story, Spyborgs, and Rondo of Blood

For me, it's Cave Story and Just Cause 2, for sure. I'll also get the XBLA Game Room.
I have Rooms on the PC, and it actually is a lot of fun. It's kind of a sliding tile puzzle game where you have to move rooms in such a way that you can get to the exit. There's a creepy style to it, and some fun twists thrown in (teleporting telephones and such). If they've added things to the Wii or DS version I may pick up one of those.
Oh, and I'm waiting for reviews on Red Steel 2, but if it's good, I'm in for that, too.

I've got a bit of time left on the Just Cause 2 demo. I'm gonna give it a bit more time, but I'm with whoever else said it's fun for a while... but ultimately isn't super compelling to play. If I can't get really interested in it, probably not buying anything this week.

Big news this week is, of course, Cave Story. I'd say the big news this week is no Virtual Console game. Nothing released this week interests me other than SMT Strange Journey , but I still haven't played the last DS SMT game. I will be finally downloading some XBLA games released in the past few weeks that I really should have already gotten.

At best. That's why I wasn't even going to try the demo until Tom Chick started gushing about it. The first Just Cause was a navigation simulator in which an intrepid explorer named Rico Rodriguez tried to figure out which sequence of insanely convoluted roadways would lead to his next boring destination, only to discover he didn't really care. In Just Cause 2, Rico Rodriguez has a bionic arm that lets him grapple attack choppers, shoot the passengers, punch the pilot to death, and then set the helicopter on a collision course with a nearby fuel depot while he parachutes clear of the blast radius. All the physics-based destruction that ensues generates Chaos which is used to unlock even crazier toys and missions where you have to use your bionic arm to hijack a jet fighter in mid-fli- Excuse me: I have to go play the demo some more. God, just two more days.... -Autistic Angel

He had the parachute and grapple in the first one, and could use them to hijack cars, boats and helicopters at any time then as well. The second one is without a doubt improved and expanded in many respects, but you were in no way restricted to the roads in the first game.
