What's the game that everyone is talking about right now or awaiting emminently?

Back in the days of PC gaming the boards would flutter with activity after a up to and until major release day and then everyone would buy it, play it and chat about it in a 5 page+ thread.

Is there anything like that in Consoleland right now or is it a different landscape...I'm out of the loop.

Of course this won't make me buy it now. Pay full price? No way, latin american male name!

I'm looking forward to Burnout: Revenge. I was eagerly awaiting Zelda, till it got pushed back.

I think a lot of releases are getting looked over right now because of the gathering storm of information and disinformation regarding the 360 launch. It might go well, but at this point, it's a little like watching an impending train wreck, in slow motion...

Yeah, Burnout Revenge coming next week is probably the hottest ticket in the near future.  I've always thought this was a rather weak year with games.  Nothing really big or original on the PS2 (the big 3 are coming again: Sly 3, Jak X, Ratchet: Deadlocked), the Xbox is pretty much dead and confined to multi-platform releases and the GameCube lost its big ticket a couple weeks ago.

The Xbox 360 is an unknown at this time.  Microsoft has to say something here soon about what we can expect at launch and start looking at the nearly finished games.  Without that the overall hype is at a murmur.

This is a big RPG year though with at least Dragon Quest VIII coming before the end of the year and (hopefully) Kingdom Hearts II.

I'm near-frothing at the mouth for Rebelstar Tactical Command.  It's basically an unofficial sequel to X-Com by the original developers.  And it's for the GBA/DS so you can play it on the toilet!

The current hypemachine is Oblivion, despite it being over two months out.  I imagine it's cranking hype to generate early momentum and then plans on just coasting down the hill of 'free' coverage close to release (ie, the obligatory "Launch Previews," reviews, etc).

God I can't wait for Animal Crossing DS.  Nintendogs was worth it just for the two-page ad for Animal Crossing DS in the back.

the only thing about REbelstar TC is that it seems like it will have more incommon with a TActics game than X-Com.  X-Com was VERY free, whereas TActical Command seems like it is going to be a cartoonish game with anime characters, but with the great X-Com battle system, which will no doubt be called a rip-off of the Tactics games by their fans, but otherwise, it looks like it will be a good game.  Just with a linear story...unfortunatly.  I wish they would just make another X-Com game, but they cant due to the fact they dont own the rights...and the recent X-Com games are nothing compared to UFO Defense/Unknown.  Oh well, that was off-topic.  Anyway, I think Far Cry Instincts is gonna be a hit, and it is XBOX exclusive.  Final Fantasy XII, though I am skeptical of the battle system.

You'll be disappointed if you think of Rebelstar as being X-com turned Tactics.  You'll have a blast if you think of it as a Tactics game turned X-com.

I must agree - I'll be comparing Socom: Fireteam Bravo to it shortly when the beta begins....

It'll never match the fun factor of Hot Shots Golf as far as I'm concerned.

Take HSG:Open Tee, add online = game of the year.

Please Sony, it was so good - let's have a hybrid of HSG:Open Tee and HSG:Fore! as HSG:5 for either or both the PSP/PS2.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Shadow of the Colossus. I haven't tried the demo yet but with the ICO team behind it, I'll be getting it full price as soon as it comes out. Other than that, Burnout Revenge looks promising as well as Resident Evil 4. Of course, I'm a PS2-only console gamer, so take that for what it's worth.

again, stubbs the zombie. running the halo engine so it looks great. zombies infecting other zombies for squad based gameplay. humorous gore and disembodied zombies hands too. great sense of style with all of those classic 50's icons - the cars, buildings and the whole suburb.city utopia nonsense.

i am suprised more people are not talking about this game...

I think it looks interesting.  Hopefully the gameplay stays interesting rather than becoming more of the same.  If they manage to overcome that I'll be all over it.

I really want to hear the soundtrack!
