Whoops.

Somebody let one of the developer's dev-kit Live accounts become visible to the 'normal' public. Sorta like Kathode here, who states that developers can't/aren't allowed to show Live scores because it'll give away whatever they're developing that hasn't been announced yet.

Actually, he freely made it available. He is not a developer. He has a final retail copy of the game. He is a online "tester" for Tecmo and runs the DOACentral website.

Besides - its not how it works.  The Devkits connect to a completely seperate Live called Partnernet to prevent just this kinda thing. smile

You know, that's what I thought, which is why my idea/stupid thought seemed so weird.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I read somewhere that Ridge Racer on the 360 sold like 8 thousand copies here in the US (compared with 250k+ of titles like Call of Duty 2)?

9,091, last time I checked. It's the worst-selling 360 title in the US. It's the best-selling title in Japan. If you play Live public matches, many of your opponents will be Japanese, and they will kick your ass. I love the game, but my cheapass nature combined with the realization that such a poor seller will see drastic price cuts soon has kept me a renter only.

Makes me wish it didn't come with my bundle.  Of the three racing games I have for the 360, it's my least favorite, but not by much.  I love the insane map thing.  I want to keep unlocking stuff.  However, my hopes were a little high from the PSP version.  This isn't that good.

Bah, it was a joke, and not even at your expense.  It was making fun of TML (which I am apt to do whenever possible).  Don't get bent out of shape about it.  I hope you had a happy holiday!

It's coming out this week everyone! (no more delays! yay!)

Got this from the Team Xbox forums:

Quote
Good news...my work recieved the game already (Rogers Video in Woodbridge Ontario). We got it last Thursday, however the street date is in fact December 28th.

Also DOA Central has a notice up on their site that the game will be finally shipping this week, confirmed.

I can't wait to check out the improved online stuff in this game. The lobby looks like it could be pretty interesting....

Posting to the front page now....

TECMO ANNOUNCES SHIP DATE FOR DEAD OR ALIVE 4

Boasting a lightning fast fighting engine, worldwide online capabilities, and unsurpassed visual beauty, Dead or Alive 4 will be the premier title when it explodes onto store shelves on December 29, 2005

TORRANCE, Calif.  December 28, 2005— Tecmo proudly announced today that Dead or Alive® 4, the highly anticipated next installment in its hugely popular fighting series, will ship to major retailers nationwide on December 29, 2005.  The highly awaited title for the next-generation Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will set the new standard for fighting games, boasting the most advanced online fighting system in the world via the Xbox Live ® online game service. Dead or Alive 4 will break new ground on Xbox Live featuring simultaneous 4-player tag battle for the first time in the series, up to 16-players online at one time, and a stylized and accessible online lobby system that allows players to choose an avatar and a “theme” for their house which will serve as their online lobby that other players can visit to get matched up for a fight.

Featuring the most fast and furious fighting engine to ever grace a video game, Dead or Alive 4 is positioned to not only take the fighting community by storm but to raise the bar for the fighting genre when it blasts onto store shelves later this month only on Xbox 360.  An impressive line-up of new, old, and unlockable secret characters, breathtaking, “Hollywood Style” cinematic ending movies, and in-depth interactive stages round out the list of Dead or Alive 4 features poised to make the game a “must buy”,

“Dead or Alive 4’s unsurpassed visual beauty, worldwide online capabilities, and finely tuned fighting engine make it the game to own on Xbox 360,” John Inada, Tecmo’s General Manager, said.  “No other fighting game on the market today will be able to match its depth, strategy, and awe-inspiring visuals.  Dead or Alive 4 will be a force to be reckoned with.”

About Dead or Alive 4

Taking advantage of the superior technology of the new Xbox 360 system, Dead or Alive 4 will be the defining gaming experience on the next-generation console as it will encompass all that Xbox 360 has to offer, giving players one of the most rewarding digital fighting experiences to date on a video game console.

Dead or Alive 4 will be the leader in fighting games as it once again raises the bar in both online and offline fighting. By utilizing the advanced technology of the new Xbox 360 hardware, Dead or Alive 4 will redefine 3-D graphics as the attention to detail is astounding from each strand of the character’s hair to each cherry blossom falling from the sky, creating the most visually beautiful and realistic looking video game to date.

Dead or Alive 4’s unsurpassed online capabilities via Xbox Live® online game service will set the stage for all online 3-D fighting games to follow as more players will be able to play Dead or Alive 4 simultaneously online to compete in larger more impressive Xbox Live tournaments around the globe. Dead or Alive 4’s online world will also include innovative and interactive online lobbies featuring voice and text chat, detailed online scoreboards, and a unique online lobby system that allows players to choose an avatar and a “theme” for their house which will serve as their online lobby that other players can visit to get matched up for a fight.

Dead or Alive 4 also boasts incredible new interactive stages, an all star line-up of old and new favorite characters, and the most complex DOA countering system yet, all adding up to the must-have video game to own along with Xbox 360.

For the most up to date information and newest action-packed fighting screens showcasing all the new DOA characters for Dead or Alive 4, check out the newly relaunched and super cool Tecmo website at www.tecmogames.com . I've never played a DOA before. Is it at all a button-masher? If it is, I don't think I'd be interested. The only fighting game I've really gotten into was Street Fighter II, and that's because I enjoyed the tactical pacing of the game. My God, was I hooked on that game in college...

DOA is one of the more technical fighters out there, but allows for button-mashing (fyi-I like to button mash)

You should and will get your butt kicked by those that don't button mash.  heck, the hard core normally get

There's Tag Team matches in this game?  Online?

How many people on a team maximum?  2?  3?  4?

Devil... you and I should issue the Poncho Challenge.  It can read something like this:

** Take the Poncho Challenge! **

"Devil and Lockdown will take on ANY two player teams.  We absolutely suck!  So, the challenge is: Will it take you more than 60 seconds to whoop our collective asses!  If it does, you lose the challenge!"

It would be sort of like reverse popping-off!

On a slightly more serious note, I plan on getting this game even though I have never touched a DoA game in my life.  The only fighting game I was ever good at was Street Fighter II for the nintendo something-or-other.  But the online modes and the fact that it isn't a button masher sort of intrigue me.  I will just need someone to teach me how to say "I hope you enjoyed kicking my ass" in numerous foreign languages.

I'm IN!

I LOVED the last DOA on XBox online and the "Poncho Memorial Beat Down" would be a blast.

Too bad that controller isn't wireless...

I will just need someone to teach me how to say "I hope you enjoyed kicking my ass" in numerous foreign languages.

I think I'll need to learn that too!

Great news that it is indeed coming out this week! Woot!!!!

There's Tag Team matches in this game?  Online?

How many people on a team maximum?  2?  3?  4?

Up to 16 players online.  From the PR Piece:

Quote
Dead or Alive 4 will break new ground on Xbox Live featuring simultaneous 4-player tag battle for the first time in the series, up to 16-players online at one time, and a stylized and accessible online lobby system that allows players to choose an avatar and a “theme” for their house which will serve as their online lobby that other players can visit to get matched up for a fight.
SO realistically, 8 players simultaneously.  Either way, I'm in. smile
