So I pulled my original 2006 360 (red ringed twice, now has just a broken dvd drive) out of the attic to use as a netflix/amazon box in the guest room.

I'd prefer not to have to move the hard drive back and forth so

1. Can I use a memory stick to download my profile AND the Netflix and amazon aps to it and run them from the memory stick thus not requiring the HD to be moved?

2. Anything else I should know other than just doing step 1?

3. Anyone have an xbox 360 AV component cable they want to send me for the cost of shipping or just plain free?  slywink

Keep in mind that I don't think you can be logged into both consoles at the same time, so depending on your use case that may be an issue.  Rokus are dirt cheap btw and work great for this type of scenario.

You can't as you need to move the USB drive with your profile on it back and forth between consoles. I ran in that config for awhile and while it worked it was a bit of a PITA. I don't see why the apps couldn't come along for the ride as well although I never tried anything like it.

That is no longer the case. Your profile can sit on your hd and a USB key. When one signs in though, the other one gets knocked off live.
