this years games was awesome, it blew everything else out of the water, and i can only expect hte same in future years. the game maybe be all i have to tunr to for hockey action if there is no agreement reached. uh oh!!  |

I'll definitely be buying NHL 2005 (EA) this year, sine last year's was so encouraging. If they tweak the game just a tiny bit and include a better franchise mode, I'll be in Hockey Heaven.
ESPN, IMHO, took a step back from the FANTASTIC 2003 product. I was really disappointed in 2k4... maybe 2k5 will make ammends.

I was all ready to join the league (I even set up the website) but it was decided it wansn't as good as the hype so I think everybody switched to Rivals. Oh well. I still have NHL 2002 on the PC for my hockey fix. Either that or Wayne Gretzky Hockey on the N64! |

ESPN was a letdown last year.
Overall I like EA best but all 3 (including Rivals) were pretty good.
Here's hoping this year EA and Sega take another few steps forward!

i think ea will get better, i loved this years game and i think they only have a few minor kinks to work out before making a truely awesome game. at least they got rid of that stupid turning thing and breakaway cam. im just hoping they dont get rid of something good.

Just to chime in, I owned ESPN and my roomie owned EA's NHL. We played ESPN a lot because it was out first and it gave us our hockey fix, then we played NHL a lot because it was new. But when it came to choose what to play when we had both games, it was always EA's NHL. We had played a lot of Dreamcast's NHL2k3 (I believe) which was better than NHL 2003, but NHL 2004 was just so much better. ESPN was a huge disappointment in so many ways.
So there's no way ESPN is being bought this year unless Jeremy Roenick shows up at my house and gives me an autographed copy. Or something.
