Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception!!

I view his opinions the same way I view Yahtzee's. When your livelihood is based on being as snarky and contrarian as possible to stir up the blogs, it can skew your normal perspectives on things.  Both provide some good and honest points about oddities and issues in game design, but at least Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation is entertainingly funny.

Of course, the worst Uncharted game is still better than a lot of other things.

Just reached chapter 4 and had to take a break to eat dinner. Playing in 3D on a 50 inch plasma screen, which is a great experience. Everything seems so much more lifelike and realistic with the extra dimension. It's fantastic to see the gang back in action too. The storytelling has been awesome so far, and that's after only 3 introductory chapters. I've been laughing out loud more than I should already. Can't wait to see the rest.

No. I'm just about halfway through the game, but there has been only two mentions of the events in the previous game, and neither spoils anything. I don't see why anyone would play this game before Uncharted 2 though. There's simply no reason for skipping it.

It's getting late here, so I finally had to turn the game off. That was hard to do. There's a much bigger focus on team dynamics in this game than the previous two, so there's plenty of banter and supporting fire. It feels like there's less awesome set-pieces than in Uncharted 2 though, but that's probably just because that game was such a large step ahead from the first one, while this one is just more of the greatness that was the second game. The part where I'm at now is dragging a little, but I think it's got just one or two scenes left before it's over. This is also partly because I'm looking forward to the stuff that's coming next in the game, some of which has been previewed earlier.

Playing in 3D is completely immersive and really enhances the graphics for me. There's a real sense of scale and mass like this.

Naughty Dog are absolutely the masters of making a world look lived in and believable.  Their textures are out of this world, even "throw away" stuff in dark rooms that you might not even see. Even early on you can tell this is another master crafted work of art.

Graphics are amazing.  When I am watching people talk to each other, I sit there amazed at the animations.  Not sure what he is talking about.

Graphically, I haven't been dazzled as I was for U2, personally.  Not to say they're terrible, just not jaw-dropping.  I'm about six chapters in.

Also, I'm finding the character animations to be a little off at times.  That said, it is constantly impressive the way ND can pull off a subtle look from a character.

The graphics are completely disgusting. The worst I've ever seen on any PS3 game. The characters have pointy elbows, glassy/waxy faces and soulless eyes. They also animate like they're having seizures and the voice actors clearly phoned in their lines.

Played it a bit last night, and was thoroughly amazed. Just the level of detail--character and environmental--that Naughty Dog puts into these games is something to behold. Don't want to spoil anything, but that market sequence is just so full of rich detail. Impressive! And in the narrative department, Naughty Dog is no slouch either. They out-do Hollywood!

But.. I played all of 3 chapters before I was drawn back to play no. 2. Because, yes, you've to play UC2 before UC3. You just have to. So I went back.. and got to the halfway mark in UC2 at 3am last night. UC2 is just so freakin' good! So my plan now is to play thru 2 and leap Nathan-style into 3 this weekend, then savor this new game. This is the first console videogame that I might just finish in a long-time. Kudos, Naughty Dog for creating such a compelling gaming experience.
