It was passable, to be sure, but compared to the 2nd game it just felt ... I don't know ... stiff. I think I'll have to do another play-through of 1 and 2 again soon.

No, no, you've got it right. U2 is markedly better than U1 (although I like U1). Leo just has a thing for U1. I think he conceived his first child while playing it or something.

I was just thinking how weird it would be if Uncharted 3 used LA Noire's MotionScan technology and you could actually see Nolan North's and Emily Rose's faces in the cutscenes.

U1 was a flawed masterpiece because of the combat mechanics, i.e. bulletproof wife beaters and kevlar eyepatches.

That video is just awesome! Best console game ever-bar none.  The first Uncharted game was not without flaws but it was far and beyond better than any Tomb Raider game I've played (although to be fair they're not exactly the same type of game-although I'm guessing the new Tomb Raider game will be a lot more like Uncharted than Uncharted is like Tomb Raider).

unless you want a lot of bullet sponge enemies and barely any enemy ai, then that's definitely a good thing.

You guys must not remember how spectacular (T-Rex!) and ground breaking the first Tomb Raider. Sure, it probably doesn't hold up now, but for it's day it was pretty incredible. The first Uncharted was just the same formula over and over again: find a "secret" area that supposed to have been hidden for centuries, realize that somehow all the enemies were already there, kill them, repeat. And unlike the second game the game play was repetitive. With the exception of the jet ski parts, you fought the same enemies with the same guns in practically the same situation over and over again ad nauseum. The second Uncharted improved over the first by leaps and bounds in every aspect of the game.

I actually thought Tomb Raider Legend was more fun than U1.  the vehicular parts were better plus I liked the varied environments.

I'm not so sure. Both were going after the Indiana Jones sort of feeling. Both featured a 3rd person perspective. Both involved solving ancient puzzles and gunning down enemies (although Tomb Raider emphasized the former while Uncharted emphasizes the latter). And both involved making dangerous jumps and shimming along ledges. I would go as so far to say that Uncharted is, with some notable changes to be sure, as close a descendant of the original Tomb Raider that's out there.

The thing Tomb Raider has been better at in the past is climbing puzzles.  I wish there were better climbing puzzles in Uncharted. The paths are usually pretty obvious.
