No release day shipping at Amazon still....no mention of a special edition....wtf Sony?  The sequel to the best game OF ALL TIME and they're doing jack shit for it.  BOO!

Maybe Sony doesn't think it's the best game of all time.  =P

I bet they think more highly of God of War 3, that will get a lot of push and marketing IMO.

Luckily, they finally added release day shipping....no for sale CE is still lame though!

OK, this weekend, I just played Uncharted from start to finish.  It is good that I did.

Naughty Dog: I will never buy another of our games EVER after the boss battle that ended Uncharted.  That was, without a doubt, THE FUCKING WORST BOSS BATTLE IN HISTORY.  EVER.  I've played games for over a quarter century and cannot think of one that was so piss poor with no excuses.  A god damn quick time event with no room for error?  I do not give one rat's ass what any 10 year old idiot child wants to defend your game, that battle encompassed ALL that is wrong with gaming.  Jesus fucking christ, that's the best you could do?  I hate you guys, I want your company to fail, and I hope someone reasonably competent gets the green light to create new properties.

(Yes, I am a little angry right now at a terrible ending to an otherwise good game.)

Tastes differ, I guess. I loved the way they did the ending. Without spoiling anything, all you have to do is a button combination you should have done many times throughout the game during regular fights, and that's that. The game doesn't cheapen the experience with this either, as there's plenty of normal fighting against the boss and his minions before the QTE.

Talk about an overreaction to the nth degree...

Who's the one acting like a 10-year old again?  You'd think at your age you would have calmed down and stopped throwing tantrums.

What's the big deal about Uncharted's ending?  I mean sure it wasn't the best one around, but like Ridah said it wasn't horrible by any means.

Once I got the timing it wasn't hard.  You do have to separate talk about the actual ending from talk about the last boss.  Honestly, it was pretty poor final boss design.  However, the ending was poignant, sweet, and left me wanting more.

SL, I will refrain from spoiling who it was against of anyone who hasn't played it yet (the game is very good if you quit before the final boss) - it's that the final battle is a pre-determined affair with you standing 10 feet from the final enemy.  He has a shotgun.  You have nothing (even if you had the foresight to pick up ammo before entering the battle - nice touch douchebags at ND).  You hit O, O again a second later, and x...then do a quick time event.  Or he shoots you.  No input from the player is desired.  No variation is allowed.  The exact strengths of the entire game are nullified in one colossal cluster fuck.  It isn't a 'battle' in any sense.  It isn't even 'gameplay'.  You do NOTHING of consequence.  You hit the exact buttons they've already specified, in exactly the time they set it up, or you lose.  What? Actually play the battle against a final boss?  Why would you want to do that? disgust

I have no problem with the ending as described above.  Sort of like Call of Duty 4 ending which I thought was pretty cool.  I don't need the cliched big fight against the tough final boss to feel good about the whole experience.  In fact, most of those big fights that I remember from previous games, I only remember because they were generally negative frustrating experiences.

Yeah, the boss fight is actually about getting to the boss in the first place. Once you're next to him, he's toast. It suits the game perfectly, as a prolonged boss battle would feel out of place.

While I do agree the final culmination was extremely disappointing, the overall game was sooooo good that I still keep it in my permanent collection.  U2 is a day one purchase for me.

I still have no idea what the final boss was from that description.

Just watched a vid: I remember it now. It wasn't terrible and wasn't great.  Not sure about the vitriol.

I felt the entire boss battle was fine. It wasn't spectacular, but it was challenging. It did have a bit of QTEs right at the end, but you could load right before so I didn't feel it was a big deal.

I'm actually glad they did it that way rather than having the boss have an unnatural amount of health that required you shooting him for five minutes.

They just did a poor job of training the player to deal with this situation.  It became trial and error along with timing.

They should have had recorded dialog of Nate talking to himself, telling himself to "wait for it... wait for it... move!" etc... Which would have help clue the player into what was going on.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I disagree strongly. The shooting of the boxes had happened all the way throughout the final level, so you should have been prepared for him to destroy your cover. From experience you would also know he'd need to reload, giving you time to get closer. The final QTE was just the Brutal Combo that you *should* have been using numerous times throughout the game, and it IS the most natural thing to do when you run up next to him, so most people might have just hit those keys anyway. I think I completed that sequence on the second attempt, using the first attempt to realize I'd get shot if I stood up too early.

To be honest, it sounds like it deserved a full 10. slywink  I suppose a 9.5 is good enough but I don't think Sony paid enough for the 10.  Tongue

Although I am on media blackout for this, so I won't be reading the review.  I suspected nothing less from Uncharted 2: Sequel to the best game OF ALL TIME! (and probably new best game of all time)

If there's any justice in this world, Uncharted 2 needs to sell as well as Gears of War 2.

Sadly, Sony won't shell out the money for advertising it, and has to split advertising Uncharted 2 and Ratchet... but on the other hand, there's a whole new crop of PS3 owners.

Part of the reason why reviews have gone up so early is that they're hoping for more positive feedback and discussion from these reviews.  Only problem is, they should be doing this two weeks before release, not 1 month.

maybe it's the same reason people elope?: they're in love! & they just can't wait! smile ...

tis the season - with lots of stuff on it's way, & lots of selective budgeting, consumer-wise, might as well create some waves (& word of mouth) early, rather than get lost in the shuffle, is what i'm thinking...

Like Turtle said, two weeks would be better than a month.

Sony does this pretty regularly- God of War 2 and Killzone 2 come to mind as games that had reviews hitting about a month off.

Huh.  Clearly, my memory about Sony's big releases isn't that good.

But still, it seems weird to have a review out a month in advance; it's going to be off most site's main pages come release day (save for Gamespot, perhaps).

This is the game that makes me wish for a PS3.  I'm going to have to borrow a PS3 to play through this game, maybe I can trade the 360 for a month or so with my friend.
