although they havent announced which 4 games,i think with the recent rumoured memory(ps3) and DVD size(360) problems,Assassins creed could be one of the casualties

'"Three of the games are from new franchises, and that the last one was from an established franchise." '

i will say assassins creed,Haze, and perhaps that Naruto game being the new franchises, and i think splinter cell will be the established franchise
...whatya reckon?

Quote
Today during Ubisoft's financial earnings report, Ubisoft have announced the delay of 4 games which will be set back until the next fiscal year (April 1st 2008 - March 31st 2009). Thing is, they're not telling us what games, and instead are deciding to just lead us there with the following hint; "Three of the games are from new franchises, and that the last one was from an established franchise."

With a holiday line up which consists of some of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year, including Assassin's creed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Haze exclusive to the PlayStation 3, gaming fans will have their heart in their mouths over worries these games may not be seen as soon as they had first hoped.

As if they didn't want to confuse us enough, their reason for the delays are "positive trends" in the company's first half fiscal year. You're all open to interpret whatever that means, but for now we'll sit on the edge of our chairs hoping the delays are for their second-tier PlayStation 2 line up, or something.

Assassins Creed just went gold, so I think that is unlikely (though not unprecedented)-if anything, I think it would be AC PS3, which has still never been shown publicly.

Splinter Cell seems a definite (and already announced I think). Haze, sure, Naruto (I didn't know that was Ubisoft) and...

Uh, wtf is with this announcement? They aren't telling us the games? So what, we get to play the guessing game with publishers now? Sweet. Seriously, this is like a PR from sony or something.

i agree, unless the delays are for other reasons(not technical for example..maybe selling strategy)and they themselves havent decided..but then again that seems a bit far fetched

as for me saying AC Cal,it was just because of recent rumours i thought of that...i hope it isnt though

sc5 was announced some time ago.  was a sequel to rb6 in the works?

my gut tells me this is for AC.  do they have a obligation to release both versions at the same time?

I actually wouldn't mind if AC got pushed to next year.  With everything else coming out in the next couple months, I wouldn't have time to play it anyways.

According to the comments, the 4 games are:

Assassins Creed
Splinter Cell Conviction (known?)
Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway
Rainbow Six: Red Arrow

No confirmation anywhere though

Now that I think about it, I've seen a online ads for AC popping up all over the place lately.  Seems a bit odd that they'd ramp up their marketing campaign if it was going to have a major delay.

» Assassin's Creed For PC Pushed Back To 2008

In a news release today, publisher UbiSoft announced their fall/holiday 2007 line-up of games. One of those games is the long awaited third person action game Assassin's Creed. However while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will be coming out this fall, UbiSoft has decided to push back the PC release of the game until early 2008.

They buy ad space well in advance.  The push could have happened too recently to pull the marketing.

AC PC as previously known, or 360/PS3? Wouldn't be at all surprised if 360 is the only one that makes it. Splinter Cell and BIA:HH were both previously announced as delayed. I didn't even know Rainbow Six: Red Arrow existed-Vegas sequel or whole new game in the series?

That's interesting.  If the PC version is going to get an extra few months of lovin', maybe it'll be worth waiting to see what (if any) improvements are made.

Improvements? UbiSoft? I am guessing the time will be spent just getting the games to work, forget improvements. smile

it would have only made the 1st quarter look like the 4th.  a ton too many games to play all releasing at once.  i do want to play it now though, but had it slipped, i would have just shifted to something else.

now, not sure why they bothered to say the other 3 were delayed now when they were already well known.

I made a phone call and was told "Don't believe everything you read".  We know some of those are certainly delayed, but I don't think AC is one of them, at least on the PS3/360.

Here is a link that has the full press release.  It makes it quite clear that AC and Haze are not delayed and will release before the end of the year:

I'm kind of bummed about the Haze delay.  I know it's been getting some poor press but I've liked most of Free Radical's other games (especially the very underrated Second Sight) so I'm interested in giving it a chance.

Haze could have come out and this would still have been true, IMO.

Glad to see they aren't pushing out the next Splinter Cell before its hopefully ready. The last one left a sour taste with many gamers so they seem to realize they need to deliver with the next one.

Call me when Ubi announces "We will not release bugfest PC games" or "We will stop rushing out lame-as* PSP versions of good console games." (See R6: Vegas and GRAW on PSP -- or better yet for your own sake, don't  disgust.)

Then, by golly, I'll be astounded, bamboozled, bowled over, dumbfounded, astonished, flabbergasted ... in fact my pocket thesaurus would run out of descriptive adjectives!  saywhat
