well, it was originally supposed to be an expansion pack, but now it's a full blown sequel. I had a blast with the first game, so I can live with them tossing out the expansion pack idea and going full blown with it.

Count me in. I too loved the first game. Hard to imagine a logical sequel however.

being too lazy to check again, I think it's supposed to be a prequel? An interesting premise maybe, would be to play the role of a dwarf, or something, although I wouldn't want to go through a whole game being 3 feet shorter than everyone else.
Anyway, I'm also fired up for this. I got on the boat late on this one, waiting to pick this up for $10 off of Steam. I've been playing it ever since.

from the article: We want to advance the story bit by bit, "The Temptation" does continue with the 2W story - and the protagonist is the same. However, at the start of the game something very dramatic will happen - and that will explain, logically, why the hero has to start from the beginning. Players can't take over the character - the story of "The Temptation" will provide a beginning which will match both potential endings in 2W. so your character gets hit with the nerf stick and have to start over again.... as long as they put in a bunch of interesting new skills I can live with that.

These were the same folks who couldn't be bothered to support 64-bit Vista or 64-bit XP for the original?
No thanks. Better people a plenty to give my money to.

I know there's a 1+ gig patch out for it so they must have done some work on it post release. I will have to keep that in mind for the sequel though, as my next PC will have a 64 bit OS.

And sometimes even though they say it doesn't support 64 bit, that just means they haven't extensivly tested it. It may still work. Rise of Flight is like that. 64 bit is not supported but it runs fine.

Subtitle from one of the screenshots: "Those tree stumps around here are too short for this, but there's a crypt in the old drowned cemetary that'll work nicely" Yeah, I really don't want to know what he's talking about. If there were a girl int he shot maybe.

Anyone ever play this with the patches? It's on super sale at gogamer now and I'm trying to decide if it is worth my time to play (the $2 is obviously not an issue).

I played it through when it was released and loved it. I think the US release was pretty well patched up since it shipped with version 1.5 or something like that, whereas the Europeans got to do the extended beta testing

There are also some fan made patches that you should grab and a mod installer thingie like the Oblivion Mod Manager. Google should lead the way to them. I likedthe first one more than Oblivion

I'll admit I was less than impressed with a few aspects of the game, but it wasn't a bad experience at all. Certainly worth $2.
As an aside, it always bothered me that whenever my character's sister appeared, she was dressed in an over-the-top slutty manner. It made me question whether or not the devs thought that particular detail through, lol.

I'm a few hours into the first now and enjoying it so far. I like that horses/teleport make traveling less onerous than Oblivion and the way deaths are handled works well for me playing it more casually too.

i still have the copy i bought when it first came out but i haven't yet tried it on x64 win7. got about a third of the way through the map before wandering off into some other game. it did have a great atmosphere and fun combat, despite its idiosyncrasies.
the sequel is on my short B list.

w00t w00t! SOUTHPEAK GAMES INVITES YOU TO TAKE UP ARMS AND RETURN TO THE WORLD OF ANTALOOR IN TWO WORLDS II™ ON SEPTEMBER 14 The Long Anticipated Second Chapter of the Epic Fantasy Series Dated for Consoles and Windows PC this Fall Midlothian, VA – May 03, 2010 - SouthPeak Games and TopWare Interactive today confirmed that Two Worlds II™, the second installment in the hit fantasy role-playing game series, will ship to retail stores in the United States, Canada and South America on September 14, 2010. It will ship to stores in the United Kingdom on September 17, 2010. “Topware and Reality Pump have spent a tremendous amount of time listening to feedback based on the original game,” said Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak. “If the reaction we’ve seen so far from the press is indicative of what’s to come, we have a game that will be seen as a benchmark in the genre. ‘Epic’ is a word that’s overused and worn-out when it comes to games like this, so we’ve created a new word for Two Worlds II: Astronepic. Yeah, it’s that good.” Building upon the storyline from the first installment, Two Worlds II offers the willing adventurer the thrilling experience of a perilous and daring journey throughout a vast magical land. While undoubtedly rich in story, detail and content, the game also offers an array of unique approaches to classic game elements that push the envelope for the fantasy RPG genre. Featuring the all-new GRACE™ game engine, Two Worlds II seeks to offer an immersive blend of two of the most important role playing elements - strong atmosphere and dazzling visuals. Incorporating cutting-edge technology features such as Real Eye Adaptation, HD Dynamic Motion Capture, and Multi-Source Dynamic Lighting, the world of Antaloor comes alive like never before as a true role-player’s paradise. Two Worlds II will be available at retailers on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. More information can be found at www.twoworlds2.com or www.southpeakgames.com.

it was a hit? it seemed most of the people here and at QT3 just yawned at best and many actively disliked it. I can't get enough rpg's and played the first one to finish. Can't remember a thing about it but I guess I liked it enough to finish.

Gametrailers has some gameplay videos from E3 (scroll down to E3 2010: Floor Walkthrough Part I and Part II). I really like the looks of the magic system, in which you combine spell cards to produce effects. In the demo, they combined wind and missile cards to produce a basic magic missile spell, then added a multiplier to shoot out 3 missiles at once. They then added a summon card, which made each missile summon a creature once it had hit a target. It's kind of hard to see because the video is shot from a screen and it's pretty dark, but the environments and spell effects look great.
