a zombie action RTS set in the 80's. of course it will only be a proper 80's setting if they mange to get some cheesy 80's music to accompany the smashing of zombie heads.

More screenshots releasedTrapped Dead is a tactical real time strategy game in the tradition of classics such as “Commandos” and “Desperados”. You and your friends control your characters in a 3rd person isometric view through a mature Zombie survival scenario inspired by the successful Horror movies of the early 80s. A co-op mode for up to 4 players is included as well.
The story takes place in the early 80s in a small town named Hedge Hill near Kansas City, Missouri. The sowing of a new genetically modified type of corn caused the existence of a new virus which mutated through the natural food chain. A dog bite of an infected animal caused a local outbreak of the virus which rapidly infected the inhabitants of the idyllic provincial town. Mike and Gerald, two college boys, are thrown into the middle of a terrifying horror scenario. Having pulled over to a gas station near Hedge Hill during what was meant to be an enjoyable road trip, they are unaware of the virus which has already reached the gas station and its staff… Send more paramedics! You hear something Bob? *drooool* Cleanup , aisle 5!

I wonder if they'll have cheesy 80's music like Vice City did.

This looks pretty interesting! I need a good zombie fix, since Fort Zombie turned out to be such an unplayable mess.

Co op rts? Odd genre bender they have here. Not really sure how an rts would work in a zombie game. The shots look good though so I'll keep my eye on it.

This could be fun. Been awhile since I've tried a Commando's style game.
Still not sure why no one has made a good action/stratgey zombie game where you have to forage for resources and can build/upgrade defenses. Maybe its just me wanting one of those.

I think it's a solid fit. You have to gather resources, build a stronghold, defend against waves of enemies. The coop dynamic leaves me sctratching my head a bit though.

Why? I play all my RTS games co-op. I can see me and my friends playing a character each. One might go gather some building supplies while another finds food and another some weapons and a 4th stays back at base to defend it while we are out picking. This would be good for a GT get together.

Good point. I still always think of RTS's invloving armies of characters to control. I think this sounds pretty cool.

Imagine an army of zombies at your control! Ugg no thanks. Would take forever to move them across the map to where the action is.

This is being published by the same Germany group who published Greed: Black Border (sci-fi Diablo wannabe) I've babbled about elsewhere here. I think the emphasis on attacking zombies via traps rather than strictly being the umpteenth zombie shooter is promising (though clearly the video still has a lot of shootin'). It looks to me a little like Commandos w/ zombies, but hopefully it's better than that metaphor. I've often found myself more passionate about games developed overseas over the years, including Incubation (German), Silent Storm (Russian), Darkstone (French) and Commandos (Spanish), among others. For some reason, European devs seem to chase different trends than U.S. devs.

Gaming Trenders vereinigt euch! I'm role-playing as a German dev with a superiority complex. It works best if you yell and occasionally spit while reciting the above text, perhaps with some exaggerated hand gestures. If you must know, it's a German-language, online-web-only single player demo of the game. Presumably an English-language demo will be out eventually.

sweeeet. Meanwhile you can play www.deadfrontier.com for a zombie fix. It's been upgraded to the 3d unity engine now (free browser game, optional subscription model). I can't wait for this to be available....just too damn cool looking and it's one of my 2 favorite niches. Zombie Survival....

Anyone know if it's worth getting for $8?
