There was some discussion about the perceived highs and lows of this pre-E3 (honestly, why anyone would release a game the week before that is lost on me), but since then no one's mentioned anything.  Has anyone picked it up?  Any sense of how the G1 fanboy crowd will receive it?  Is it fun?

I'm absolutely dying to give Transformers a try, but I'm broke right now and can't really justify the rental. So I need to live vicariously through others. :-D Is the game as awesome as it looks?

I don't know, but the line from the EGM review sticks in my mind.  They said that it reminded them of Metal Arms: Glitch in the System as a surprisingly good 3rd person shooter.
