10) Worms
9) Street Fighter
8) Star Fox
7) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
6) Tomb Raider
5) Turok
4) Pac-Man
3) Mega Man
2) Dynasty Warriors
1) Sonic the Hedgehog

Pretty difficult for me to argue with those.  I did like the newest Tomb Raider but the one that's saddest for me is Sonic.  I used to love Sonic 1-3 on the Genesis and played them over and over.

10) Worms
9) Street Fighter
Cool Star Fox
7) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
6) Tomb Raider
5) Turok
4) Pac-Man
3) Mega Man
2) Dynasty Warriors
1) Sonic the Hedgehog

10: Worms just needs to get back to the simplistic basics, or just vanish altogether. It's always been about the silly Tank Wars type of game. If they can't do that, it needs to go away.

9: Street Fighter 'capped out' at #2 (Super Turbo Hyper Fighting Championship Edition or whatever), and hasn't gone anywhere from there. Although I personally feel that the Alpha series went beyond the series. But where can Capcom go from here? Good question.

8: Put Fox McCloud and crew back in the fucking cockpit for a good-old-fashioned space shooter (on rails or not - and maybe a tank level or two for some variety - like the N64 game) and the fans will be happy. Command was a good step forward for a series that went to hell based on the original formula on the Gamecube.

7: Haven't played a Tony Hawk title in years, so I don't really have any suggestions for it.

6: Tomb Raider made a comeback after a few crappy titles with the recent release, but unfortunately I think that Laura Croft is done for. What more can they really do?

5: Let Turok die the death he deserved like 3 games ago. There's nothing they can do to revive this series.

4: Let Pac-Man die the death he deserved like 10 games ago. There's nothing they can do to revive this series.

3: Let Mega Man die the...just kidding. biggrin  There's still plenty they can do with the old-school formula, IMHO. The side-scrolling shooters were always a lot of fun to play. Just stop abusing his name in all the other junk they've released recently.

2: For reasons I can't explain, the beat-em-up Dynasty Warriors series still hasn't died even though the game hasn't changed any since the first title. I'd just let the fans have their fun here.

1: Sonic's only entertaining feature is running fast. That's what made him famous on the Genesis. You can't do that properly on the 3D crap Sega has released over the years. The Wii version however is a VERY good start into fixing the series and getting Sonic's name properly remembered around gaming circles. Let's hope that Sega continues this type of game.

And to answer the comments: Final Fantasy changes enough every game to not be the same old stuff. That and the releases are generally far apart enough to have people want to play them. Metal Gear...as long as the PS3 game is good, the series will be just fine. Give me a good old-fashioned sneaky shooter and let me have fun with it without spending half the game in a cinema scene.

Super Mario! I'm tired of Mario racing, Mario's World, Mario's Golf, Mario's Tennis, Mario's Hoops, how about trying something new from Nintendo? (And I don't mean Mario's Killing Spree!)

Dynasty Warriors on the other hand, yeah it's been milking the cow as much as the Sims, but it's a good series IMO. They just need the LONG over-due graphics engine upgrade, and add some new real features. How about some real castle sieges - like Rome Total War had?

I will go with Final Fantasy and Madden, but bring back "Madden" in a different incarnation. Start over....COMPLETELY, abandon every line of code they had before, and focus on making an honest to goodness damn fine game of football.

And give me 'career mode' that focuses on ONE GUY, not the entire damn team.

If I'm the running back, I don't want to be calling plays, I don't want to be throwing the ball as the QB, I don't want to play defense.

And most importantly, if I'm a 3rd string RB, I don't want to be starting!

Umm.  What would you be doing?  Just watching the game?

I'm not sure they would make a game based on that.

The latest Tomb Raider was pretty cool and they need at least one more outing to tie up Legends.  Madden needs to go bye-bye (if only to screw over EA).  Grand Theft Auto too.

Really, really liked Tomb Raider Legend so I don't think it belongs on this list.  Crystal Dynamics did an outstanding job at resurrecting the series.

Can't agree with Tony Hawk's name on the list.  TH8 is a great game that got rid of that THUG gameplay and returned to the style of TH 1-3 which I really like.  I have Downhill Jam for the Wii but can't comment much on it since every time I fire up the Wii, Zelda takes the stage.

I've enjoyed quite a few of the Tony Hawk titles.  I think the THUG pair hurt a bit, but overall, I've enjoyed them.

Um, that's what the career mode does in the most recent Madden offering.  Unless you're being sarcastic, in which case I feel the same way.  I loved the career mode in Madden '06 for the original Xbox, because even though I was focusing on one player, I was able to participate in the rest of the game as well.  The most recent career mode is boring as hell.  I haven't even been able to play beyond the preseason.

After the last Tomb Raider I don't see why people would want that to go away. IMO it was probably the most overlooked title of 2006 because of its past.

Most of the other list I can see. I still would like to know who wastes their money on buying those retarded Dynasty Warrior games over and over again.

I really enjoyed the 2nd one...

It could have been better (the "OMG your ship crashes, but everyone amazingly survives" thing was way overused), but overall it was a really fun ride.

Dynasty Warriors(okay, this one spoils it...i dont know about that)

Samurai Warriors 2:Empires is due out next month. (very similar game to Dynasty Warriors from the same developer Omega Force/Koei)
as to the retard comment, I do.

Some of the DW games have been damned fun; and at least somewhat based on reality (at least the back-stories are, if not the actual combat etc).

I think the fact that EVERY EA GAME is released on a yearly cycle means that they need to get a grip.

Hello, ROSTER UPDATE as a microtransaction with some improvements, and actually BUILD A NEW GAME rather than patching up the same hog-in-a-dress you've been taking to the company picnic every year?

BTW: Burnout Revenge sucked compared to the previous one. Yeah. I said it. Tongue

Give me the option to play the game normally, or (like MLB The show) sim to my next appearance, and use how I perform in pre-season / training camp to build stats to become a better player.

I saw a very similar list on another site not too long ago. I don't really agree with Star Fox and Mega Man being on this list. There hasn't been that many Star Fox games yet and all of them have been at least good games; just not all excellent. And I'd really like to see a Star Fox with on-line play.
Although there's been a multitude of Mega Man games released many of them have been excellent.

After the pleasant surprise that Tomb Raider Legends was I'm also not sure if the final verdict is out on Lara yet. I'll wait till the next game to decide that.
I'm also still waiting for an excellent 3D Sonic game to arrive. Team Sonic still isn't there, but Sonic Heroes and the Secret Rings have gotten them closer. Team Sonic just needs the right talent to do what Nintendo managed long ago with Mario.

And on a final note I've never been convinced that a 3D Street Fighter wouldn't work. I know it's blasphemy in many gaming circles to utter such a thought, but other 2D fighters have successfully made the transition. I think it's actually more plausible with SF because the characters personalities were quite strong. I think it would be too cool to throw a bad ass fighter based on Sony Chiba's original movie character into a new SF game.  icon_cool
