And to answer your question, the only game I've played released in 2014 is Kinect Sports Rivals and it is not my game of the year.

2013's 2014 Game of the Year would be Battlefield 4.

I'm pretty much in the same boat.  The only two 2014 games I've spent any significant time with are Thief (which I quite enjoyed) and Bravely Default (which I enjoyed half of).  Neither are GOTY material.

Interestingly, I've probably spent much more time gaming overall in 2014 than I have in most of the previous years.  It's just all been spent with updates of games that released in 2013 (Final Fantasy 14) or 2012 (Diablo 3).  So my 2013 GOTY for 2014 would be FF XIV, and it's not even close.  It's actually become one of my top 3 games of all time, which I never would have expected when I started.

Between old games and MMOs I don't think I've finished a 2014 game yet, unless Titanfall counts.

Of games released this year, I'd have to put Transistor at the top of the list.  Thief was a miss on most accounts.  Strider is fun and a great game, but the art, music and gameplay of Transistor is much better than any other game I've played from 2014.

Watch_Dogs gets the GOAT by being the sole nominee.

For games released this year, I'd probably have to say the best or my favorite would be Mario Kart 8.

Dark Souls 2 was really good, but I never finished it.  Shovel Knight seems really good, but I got stuck and haven't played enough of it to call that.

I wasn't all that hot on Infamous Second Son.  Watch Dogs was a disappointment.  Broken Age was alright but kind of a disappointment as well.

GOTY for me so far would be Infamous: Second Son. It held my attention through two playthroughs (which almost never happens), it was a great graphical showcase for the PS4, and it was the first console game of 2014 that I really sank my teeth into.

In terms of hours played I spent more time in Watch Dogs, but that was due to the greater abundance of side content. In terms of presentation and story I enjoyed Infamous more, and the extra bonus was that it was my first platinum trophy.

I fully expect, however, that some of the games coming out this fall will dethrone Infamous as GOTY for me. While it's a good game, it wasn't at that next level that I demand of a "true" GOTY.

It's way too soon to say for sure, but Divinity Original Sin is a strong contender in my book.  In spite of all its warts, it comes closest to capturing the feel of an old bioware game from the golden days of crpg's for me.  The combat is just sublime.

I doubt it'll place on my GOTY list in six months, but I really am having a good time with Watch Dogs.  It's one of those games I play sporadically for 30-45 minutes at a time throughout the week, and while it isn't quite engaging enough to hook me in longer, the sheer breadth of side content keeps me coming back again and again.  Also, the subject matter has piqued my interest.

I'm going between Infamous and Wolfenstein right now. Both are good games. Infamous I platinum-ed and Wolfenstein is such a well built single player shooter.

I've probably put the most time into The Show 14 though, my Road to the Show character is currently in his 3rd full season.

Goat is probably Watch Dogs. I'm playing through that right now, but it's not really grabbing me, I don't like the forced stealth and the side activities feel flat. I do like the scale of the city though and I don't have a problem with the driving aspects. I'll probably burn through the main mission then never look back, unlike other open world games.

Remember, ATB doesn't actually have to play a game to declare it his GOTY.

Mine is Dark Souls II.

My GOTY is Watch Dogs. Completed the campaign, did a lot of the side missions and enjoyed the online portion as well.
