US, March 6, 2007 - Ubisoft today gave credence to the recent rumor that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would arrive on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade by officially telling IGN it's all true. The classic, 1989 side-scrolling arcade game is coming, unfettered, to XBLA this month.

In development with Digital Eclipse (of Foundation 9 Entertainment), and originally published by Konami in the arcade, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will arrive on XBLA via Ubisoft featuring the original seven levels, all of which are playable in two- to four-player co-op modes on Xbox Live.

Starring Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo in all their 2D sprite-based glory, this coin-op port will support voice-chat capabilities, offer 200 points worth of Achievements and, best of all, will only costs 400 Microsoft Points (US$5).

This will be an immediate purchase for me.  My brother and I popped more quarters into that damn video game machine than any other in our local arcade.

Very very very good news... loved this game.

I am definately in on it.

Could we really get two good titles in one month, both Worms and TMNT in march?!?

If we can get a crew together to play, I'll buy it. It'll be only the 2nd live title i've purchased.

The game was great in the arcade, but short if i remember...

I may have to get this and 3 extra controllers so my friends who don't own a 360 can come over and relive our teen years  icon_biggrin

Played the hell outta this game in the arcade back in the day, so this news has me very excited. Had I a 360, I'd be over the moon.

Call me crazy, but I don't think when TMNT came out it was targetting the same demographic that grew up watching EMERGENCY! slywink

I never watched the cartoon at all.  The game rocked big time, though.

It's better that way. The original Eastman-Laird comic was so awesome that it was a travesty what it became in cartoon/movie form.  But the game kicked ass.

If they do X-Men too they better add The Simpsons.  Then the trifecta would be complete!

It was a little after my time as well, but I have distinct memories of the arcade game... not from playing it, but because it was at the pool hall where I hung out one summer, and you heard that freakin' theme song every 5 minutes.

X-Men *was* rather awesome.  I would definitely be IN for that.  They'll probably make us wait until X-Men 4 comes out.

They aren't classic because neither of those games allowed for 4-players.  THAT'S WHY.
