Crytek has opened a new studio in the US and hired Vigil Games' "core team", including one of the co-founders.

You know, if you guys weren't so dickishly passive aggressive about linking the front page and were instead actually proactive in posting it in threads, maybe people here would give a shit.

Maybe not the kindest or most gracious way to say it, but, you know, Engine's not entirely wrong.

Holy Jesus Testicles THQ!!

I had no idea it was that much they owed

Quote
THQ creditors seeking more than $200 million
Microsoft, Codemasters and Double Fine among those owed money

Among the claimants, Microsoft is seeking over $1 million in licensing and financing fees, Codemasters is seeking $1 million in unpaid royalties and stock, and Double Fine is seeking $595,000 in royalties and money owed for PlayStation Plus promotions.

Ex-THQ executives Jason Rubin and Jason Kay are also seeking $2 million and $2.1 million respectively, citing unpaid salary and severance, plus breaches of employment agreement.

Additionally, outstanding payments are owed to staff that worked work on Saints Row 4, Homefront 2 and Metro: Last Light.

in line with the THQ news: Ubisoft, who acquired THQ Montreal, fired Patrice Desilets (a designer for the first 2 AssCreed games) over a week ago.  Today they announced that they have officially suspended work on game he was working on, 1666.  Due to his contract for the game he won't get any of the IP rights as it isn't officially canceled.

it'll be interesting so see what is going on if the full story ever comes out.

Irony - since he quit Ubisoft Montreal to go to THQ.

I hope Volition will be given the chance to make a new Freespace, but the odds of succesfully navigating an asteroid field creating a new non-kickstarter space sim are approximately 3,720 to 1.

Interplay got Freespace.

Nordic talks a bit about the franchises they got.  Their priorities:

1. Darksiders
2. MX vs ATV
3. (someone catch Blackjack) Titan Quest

somewhere lower is Red Faction, which they say THQ screwed up after Guerrilla.  I agree.  In any case, it seems 2 and 3 on the list will be closer to coming back than 1, which looks to be years away.
