So apparently the dropship has a weak point which'll allow it to take more damage.

There is some new "stuff" for ground troops that will be FREE in the future.

So apparently the "booster" and the patch are up for NA users.  Just login and you'll be prompted for the patch and you can download the "booster" in the in-game store menu (as it's not accessible from the PSN store... at least I haven't heard it is...).

Just had a little time before dinner and yeah, the dropship is intimidating.  It emits this crazy "whirrrl, whirrrl, whirrrl...." that you can hear and when that thing hovers above you, you're done for.

Just played a few rounds with depward in a zones-only, new map only rotation.

That mofo can change the tide of any battle.  depward and I were holding on to one point and in comes this dropship and nearly a loaded house and that thing pulverized the entire area and guys jumped out, immediately capping the point. 

The increase of 5 seconds to respawn from 3 is really, REALLY welcome.  Killing someone then capping, only to be hit with a grenade felt a little...lame.  Cap it fast enough and they won't be able to spawn there.  It's a welcome change.

Wowhawk indeed . . . just got it last night and jumped into a few deathmatch servers to get my feet wet . . . it was a pure adrenaline rush.  I jumped in w/o reading the manual so it took me a while to get going but it felt great to shoot down warhawks with the infantry rocket launcher 
Need to think about getting the addon in the next few days . . .

Can you play on servers anywhere in the world?  Because I would probably buy the North American version of the game (downloadable version) but I don't want to be stuck playing on American servers when I live in Japan.

Both TML and my kill / death ratio are pretty bad.  That's because we usually only play Zones games where we'll be solely concerned with grabbing an enemy zone, capping it, then either defending it for a little bit or flying off to another zone to cap.  So while our k / d ratio is pretty shitty, we're usually top of the game leaderboards...

It's all about getting those zone cap points

You can play on all worldwide servers.  The ping is higher for me.

Only depward and I play from what I've seen from the playtime of other GT members.  Calvin used to play, until he couldn't handle the ground combat.

I have it too.  I like flying the Warhawk. But I think the ground combat is really weak compared to everything else that's out there. Plus back when I played it my stats never got recorded. Although I think that's fixed now.

So I hit the 30 hour mark of playtime tonight.  It's probably more like 40... I played a LOT when they weren't recording stats... but that's fine.

I think this is the finest big-battle FPS I've ever played.  Teamwork works so fantastically good.  Teams can really dominate if they coordinate their strikes with tanks, a dropship, and an attached tank to the dropship's hull.  But even with this, the other team can counter with strategically placed mines, rocket power and more.

I have this huge backlog... but I always keep on going back to those awesomely fun Zone matches.  Great, great game... (btw ras I sent you a message today to play but didn't hear back from you).

Thinking about picking this game up.  I'm a bit concerned though because I live in Japan.  Do players with Japanese and American versions of the game play on their own separate servers or can you play anywhere you want?  I don't want to be stuck playing on America-only servers especially if the lag is terrible.  I would rather play predominantly on Japanese servers and then hook up with the GT guys for the odd battle on American servers.  Is the Bluetooth headset worth it?  I'd actually rather have the downloadable version because then I'd never have to worry about having to pop the disc in just for a 15 minute gaming session.  On the other hand, I want to be able to communicate with people.

You can play on your own server.  It defaults to showing servers only in your region...but you can filter the server selection screen to include all regions if you desire.  I've played on Japanese servers and they were a little laggy.

The headset itself is a pretty good BT headset.  Every once in awhile you'll get into a server where there are quite a few people on their mics...and for Zones (which is my favorite gametype), it's pretty nice to communicate with your teammates.

OR, you could just get the downloadable version...AND Eye of Judgment and use the mic on the PS Eye

Well I got in a little gaming time today and I had a lot of fun.  The controls (for me at least) take a lot of getting used to.  I can see that I'm going to have to start up my own server and then lock it or something so I can learn how things work at a leisurely pace.  I really wish this game had mouse support especially for the infantry combat.  Oh and this is not a game to be played on SDTV's unfortunately   Obviously reading text isn't a big deal in this game but it is when you are first starting and are trying to read the hints that come up on the screen.

Yeah, ground combat takes a LONG TIME to become comfortable.  Honestly, it took me a long time and now I really love how it works.  Grenades are your friend.  And if you ever see a Rifle, TAKE IT.  The pistol is crazy week.  A tip with the rifle; you'll feel it sort of lock-on to your target.  It locks on the very middle of your target, and if they are very active, they'll probably shake your lock if you don't move with the target.  Aim a little higher - headshots take crazy damage.

Of course, 12 hours after buying Warhawk, my copy of Oblivion finally shows up  .  I guess that's why I bought it in the first place-because I knew then that Oblivion would have to come the very next day
