So, I was reading our front page (I know, shocker!) - and came across THIS in the news section.

Anyone keeping on top of this title at all?

It looks and sounds pretty good.  If I recall, it's been in development for quite some time though.  I wonder if that's good, bad, or indifferent?

I'm very interested and am happy they have secured a publisher.

However, I think the quite excessive development time is cause for much concern (as well as the fact that it's an unproven developer).

The long development time is because they didn't have a publisher.

We took a look at it at E3, and it doesn't look bad at all.  They basically did a complete rework of the ... I'm wanting to say NWN engine, but I could be wrong here.

Yeah, it was the NWN engine.

Wow, I never heard that about the title.  I wasn't really interested in it before, but now, strangely, I am.

I really like the idea of an action-RPG with deep combat mechanics, so I'm hoping this will turn out great.  I'm still amazed that the game is based on a version of the truly hideous NWN engine.

Dear Atari,

Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please Oh please surprise the Hell out of me by not pressuring the developers of this RPG to publish a 78% finshed game prototype as per your current modus operandi.

Please?

There is an update:  Link to Gaming Heaven

Personally, I figure this game has to come out before I die.  Probably not long before, at the rate it's going though.

As long as it comes out before DNF, it's doing ok.

I almost forget about this game, and then there's some bit of news on it and I kinda get interested again.  Do they even have a general idea of a probable release date yet?

A small article resides HERE.

So they are still using a modified version of the Neverwinter Nights I engine?   icon_surprised

I assume they're still using that engine, which is amazing considering how ugly NWN was.

I just checked IGN and unlike the GT news post LD linked to they're saying September 25th.  great, can we say 'buried in the avalanche of games coming out around then'?  I'm really hoping it'll be July though.

Considering the fantasy genre and the track record of Atari's  publisher relationships with second party developers, You want this game to take until about December to come out, not next month.  If you desperately need bugs in July  I'll jar up some fireflies and ship them to you.  They even light up, making it easy to find a whole bunch of them for you.

Yeah that unfortunately guarantees a bargain bin buy from me-I will have purchased 5 games in the month leading up to that include Halo3 that day, so suffice it to say the witcher will be low priority.

Like I said before...  The law of averages says this game has to actually release sometime before I die.  Probably not long before though.

The PR Rep that is working on this title stayed with me during E3.  I suspect we'll see playable code LONG before release to fill in any info gaps you guys have.  smile

On the plus side at least we're getting a specific month and date (October 26th), and this does look to be a the perfect game for the Halloween season.

Anyone got any new info on this?  I just checked Gogamer and it's still slated for October 30th.  I'm hoping this can be what Gothic 3 failed to.

Just found this on the forums: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=2065.0

It will be rated MA in the US, but will be a censored version without nudity and possibly finishing moves?  Anyway I'm considering getting a UK import which will not be censored in any way.  Anyone have a site they recommend for importing UK games?  Or could I possibly get it from Canada?
