Anyone else finish it?
I know CeeKay and at least one other around here did. I got a ways into Chapter 4 when the EE was announced. I had initially held off, thinking I would just continue my save game from there when the EE was released but now I think I'm going to replay the entire game again so it will be quite a while until I finish.

I know CeeKay and at least one other around here did. yep, that ending was awesome, and really, really, really demands that they do a sequel post haste. I started a game of the EE version but haven't got farther than laughing at Triss's new jiggle. on a side note, gamesplanet finally sent me my CD key so I can once again say I'm a legitimate owner.

I just finished the final chapter of The Witcher, and I'm completely in awe at the fantastic ending. It's unlike anything I've seen in a game before, and really made me sit back and think. This game is truly one of the greatest PC RPGs ever made, and it's very long too. Took me about 40-50 hours to complete. Well worth the time and money. Anyone else finish it? Yes, I finished it and thought it was a really good game. I will probably play it again on the hardest setting and try to complete all the stuff I missed the first time.

Yep, me too. I'll echo the general sentiment: great game - best CRPG to come out in years - we need more like that. Even though it's pretty linear (3 flavors of linear is still linear in my book), I'm more the type to enjoy a great story and the illusion of consequences than wandering around aimlessly with total freedom but little in the way of coherent storyline. To each his own, but I really really liked this game.

Thanks, I figured it right after I typed that.
I think the patch censored my Euro version, no nudity when I bedded Triss.
actually there was never any nudity the first time you bed Triss, it's her second card that reveals more. I was worried it had indeed censored the Euro version but all the other cards I have gotten so far (Vesna, Abigail, Tulip girl and the Gossip) have had nudity. I'm playing through and intentionally making different choices than my first playthough, and so far the game actually seems to be easier. The hellhound took me a few tries to beat on my first run, but this time I took him down no problem.

CeeKay, wth are you doing playing the Witcher here? Go back to WAR you slacker, the Order needs you! I loved the original - got to Chapter 3, encountered a couple of bugs, heard of EE and decided to wait for it. Now I am not sure if I want to start all over. Does the game play at least a bit differently in the first 2 chapters now? I don't know, stuff like alchemy improvements, more models for NPCs, etc. do they really affect the game? Maybe I'll re-start it when my WAR addiction goes down a bit, I just can't play two games at the same time.

I originally stopped at chapter 5, awaiting the EE. I'm really happy I start over and got past that point, as the story really only comes together in the epilogue and turns the Awesomeness dial to 11. It's well worth starting over. You'll get to chapter 3 quick enough, especially when you've done it before. I ended up playing through the entire thing as a neutral witcher. Very satisfying.

I got the EE from Steam last night, great game so far. Very impressive.
I'm in the "Outskirts of Vizima", having just talked to the Reverend. Somehow I've managed to lose my Silver sword (still have my steel one), is there any way to get another one? I think I picked up an axe by mistake and it replaced my silver sword.
The Steam version doesn't seem to have a manual. What's the best place online to get the most information for the game?

Are you still in Chapter 1? You actually don't get a Silver Sword until Chapter 2.

Ah, ok, thanks. I could swear I had one at one point, and was switching between them. edit: found the PDF manual deep in the Steam directories. There was also a PDF Witcher EE game guide in there, as well as a world map.

So, do you think its worth buying the enhanced version if you already have the original, or just wait for the patch in March?

March? What are you talking about? The patch was released the same day as the Enhanced Edition.

Finally completed the game tonight. While I had some annoying small bugs/issues, the game made up for it. The ending is pretty well done, even if it does leave some room for intepretation (and for a sequel.) Definately a thumbs up game.

Finished this the other day. Really great experience (I had waited until EE to play it at all). Probably the most real and engrossing fantasy world I've played. Good story, and as noted the end cutscene (in addition to be pretty badass) does a heck of a setup for a sequel.
I've heard rumors of this coming to the 360; I wouldn't mind seeing this happen as it would (IMO) greatly increase the chances of seeing a sequel.

wow, i started this up today out of idle curiosity.... wow. I've just begun but it's a game that just knows how to hit the pedal off that bat. I think a lot would be lost if I was doing pre-EE 'cause I can't see wanting to deal with the alchemy system prior to the upgrades. Also, big hats off to the cinematic team, it's the first game I'd say that rivals Blizzards cutscenes imo.
From what I've heard it's not very focused on loot, which I've got to say is a nice change for an RPG. It's always been character development and story that I've been most interested in, and the char development seems well done.
I've got to agree about it feeling as open as Elder Scrolls yet still focused. Can't wait to keep playing this one =]

true, loot doesn't play an overly important part, but trust me, don't skip out on any loot. alot of important info comes from books, and they can get expensive, so being a scavenger pays off.

The Witcher EE has been the game that I most look forward to playing when I'm at work. It's kept me interested up to level 8, and shows no signs of letting up. Excellent game, and you can tell the guys who made it love games, and love RPG's. And Geralt simply rocks as a central character.

yes, it's nice to play a character who is supposed to be a bad ass AND be a bad ass while doing it for a change.

I have way too many distractions right now (the main being WAR and the upcoming Fallout), so I'll save re-playing it for a slower time of year, when I can really enjoy it.

heh... this game has actually been distracting me from WAR. I get maybe 1 or 2 hours of WAR per night, and then 2-3 hours of The Witcher.

I am afraid I will want to play WAR when I am playing The Witcher and vice versa. Both are exeptional games and deserve a full dedication. I hate playing two RPG's at the same time, I get confused and don't enjoy either as much as I could

From what I've heard, the Impulse version is the censored (American) version.

From what I've heard, the Impulse version is the censored (American) version. AFAIK all you'd be missing would the be nudity on the erotic cards you can collect (which can be found by looking at the Witcher Wiki) and one or two different NPC models.

You can also download a fan patch that gives you the Euro cards and models.

Probably a dumb question. But to register the game it says to enter the product key which is on the last page of the manual cover. My last page says notes. Anyone know where it is supposed to be???

Did you even bother looking anywhere else in the manual? It's on the inside front cover on mine. But it may vary by region (I have the US version of the original release).

Gee. I actually went through the entire manual and no cd key. Turns out no Cd Keys were issued for the Canadian release. So if you want one you have to contact Project Red and they will supply one. They were very quick with mine. Great support.

Likewise if you have an OEM version. I had to go through Atari support for mine, but within a couple of days I had an activation code and could get it registered.

Does it really take 2 hours to modify the files! Slowest patch ever.

I'm quite impressed that from here http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/installation_of_twee_in_four_easy_steps.htmlYou have all the additional content that the enhanced version comes with - including the new gameplay guide/improved manual etc. Lots of respect for this developer. Most would have provided the patch and expected people to be happy with that. Really looking forward to this one arriving here Tals

Really looking forward to this one arriving here Most would have sold it as an expansion or went with the mini-transaction trend. It's great to see this kind of "old fashioned' support from a developer.
