what a way to cap off the night!  nothing like going to bed with a big... grin icon_twisted

[edit] after watching that 2 things concern me:  hopefully Geralts voice is only a placeholder voice (it does say alpha so I'm leaning towards yes), and it looks like they have some kind of QTE going on during the assassin fight.

Of course Geralt's voice is a placeholder. I even think it's the same guy as the one who introduces the video. This is a video meant for internal use, from the early stages of the development process. It's common for the devs to record their own voices at this stage in order to test timing issues and prepare the game for the actual finished voices. They're probably not very happy that this thing leaked.

Wow, that looks fantastic.  I like the much cleaner on-screen display this time around, looks much less cluttered.

On a side note, anyone else think it's a bit douchbaggy for them to post a video with a huge "Confidential Video - Internal Use Only" tag on it?  I know it happens all the time, but it rubs me the wrong way.  This is obviously a promo piece that's going to be released anyways.

They seem proud of the quick time events for boss fights...which kinda stinks.

I am also not a big fan of blood splattering my screen.  It feels very artificial.

at least they're taking it well instead of doing the kneejerk 'cease and desist' notices for everyone.

I'm hoping that only happens during the QTE's/cutscenes and not regular combat.  who knows, maybe there will be enough of a roar from the community against those they'll take them out.

I wonder if they're going to bring back the erotic cards this time.  I also have to say I'm not a big fan of Geralts new hairstyle  puke

I don't think it's "douchebaggy" of them at all, since this is clearly an internal video (probably for showing to investors). No company would publicly release videos with low framerate and placeholder voices, particularly this long before release. It'll just drive away people who don't understand that these things change. Look at the YouTube comments for the video to see this in effect.

Exactly.  It's obviously not a finished product and is supposed to be an internal only video...so why would Voodoo Extreme publicly post it for everyone to see?  That's a pretty dick move.

All they did was basically grab a Youtube video and post it on their site. That's it. Youtube isn't exactly 'internal only' anymore, and is about as public as you can get.

That said - holy shit that looks fantastic. I love the hell out of the original game (short of how it doesn't support 16:10 resolutions), and this one looks to build upon that. Instant Day 1 purchase.

I played the original in 16:10 with no problems.

From the FAQ (from the other Witcher thread):

Quote
Q: Cut-scenes blurryness when using 16:10 resolutions ( 1280x800 / 1440x900 / 1680x1050 / 1920x1200 / 2560x1600 / 3840x2400 / 5120x3200 / 7680x4800 )

A: Forcing 4x or 16x Anisotropy in the video card control panel and setting in-game Advanced options to 4x or 16x Anisotropy should ameliorate or cure this.

The latest NVidia drivers I use didn't fix this problem (but an older version did). Problem is that I needed the drivers for something else I'm playing.

What's the blurriness issue? I just started playing it and saw some strangeness in the cutscenes, but chalked it up to the dialog animation system being less than awesome, like the lip synch being stiff and the camera sometimes not framing the characters well.  Does anyone have a screenshot of the issue?

It basically cuts off what looks like every 10th horizontal line or so in an attempt to make the conversations more of a 'cinematic' feel (like how they do 'widescreen' TV shows without the widescreen).

Damn, I looked at the thread on the Witcher boards, and I'm seeing exactly that.  Unfortunately, I tried setting both the Nvidia control panel and the in-game settings to both 4x and 16x, and the problem doesn't go away.  It does go away if you set the lighting to low, but at medium or high, there it is.

That's highly annoying that there's been a fairly obvious and relatively severe display bug in the game for two years, and they haven't put a fix in.  Now that I've noticed it (I definitely noticed it before, but figured it was just how the game looks), I can't un-see it, and it makes me not even want to play the game.

EDIT: So the other fix noted in that thread is to run the game at 16:9 resolution.  Turns out my monitor is perfectly happy running at 1600:900, so I set the game to run at that, and the problem's fixed.  I don't necessarily mind running it letterboxed, but it's really silly that they let the bug in there in the first place, and then never bothered to fix it.  It's probably one of those bugs that happened because of some small oversight, but happened early enough that it became such and intrinsic part of the display code that fixing it would require a complete code refactor.

I know there's just a hint of sarcasm there, but it was more than that... actually wasn't even considering the ponytail ffs as part of the difference, it was his face and the fact that (to me in my one look at it) he seemed... younger.  icon_confused

And like the Soulchilde, perhaps if I'd actually finished the first one this would be moot.

I agree he looks a bit younger in this one, but maybe it's just because he's had time to rest up.  in the first game all he did was run around, kill and fuck after being found half dead; I'd imagine any one of us would look like hell too doing all that without a break.

or maybe they've gotten the engine to show a lot more detail.

either way I hate that fracking pony tail.
