(PR walks in.. cup of coffee in hand)
It's the Weekend Playlist pushing your gaming hobby since 1961.. Oops, no historical data today. Our crack team of researchers failed to produce a factoid today (cut to: Harkonis, Ceekay, and Hepcat all hungover and passed out on their office chairs). So what will be your gaming pleasure this weekend? I'll be... grinding out a video project this weekend that was due last Tuesday, so not sure I'll get any gaming time. Maybe a bit of the usual for me: League Of Legends. How about you?

The gf is working the late shift the next two nights, so I'm wide open. I may decide to give the new Tiger Woods another try. I may scratch the character and build a new one to gain the import bonus. If that doesn't make me a bit happier with the new mechanics, I'll likely put it up on the trading forum.

Was in Pittsburgh last weekend and had no time for gaming, and I had real-life gaming planned for this weekend (upper-level softball tournament with $3000 for 1st, $1000 for 2nd, $750 for 3rd), but neck treatments haven't been successful, so that coupled with a rotator cuff strain and shoulder tendonitis will keep me on the DL for a while longer. I'm not handling the inability to train or play very well, so I don't think I'll be able to deal with going to the tournament as just a spectator, making it likely that I'll stay home, drink more than I should, and perhaps muster up enough motivation to play a videogame. Perhaps Skyrim, or maybe continue with Gears 3, or maybe I'll try to revisit Arkham City. I've been thinking about AC:Revelations as well, but whenever I start too many games at once I never get back to them or eventually have to start over. Although if last night is any indication, my motivation to do anything has been pretty nonexistent.
I'll definitely be watching the Flyers and Phillies, though.

Actually, I'm going to revise my tentative weekend gaming plans and perhaps try to get back into War for Cybertron which is on loan from an online friend. As I haven't gotten very far in the game I may start over to refresh my memory on what has happened so far and try to work through more of the game's storyline. I had gotten discouraged after running into a few areas that seemed a bit overly difficult, but perhaps a break from the game is just what I needed.

oh, and I'm going through my Steam library, trying out the smaller games and putting them in my 'uninteresting' category if I don't care for them. so far: Hammerfight hated the mouse controls. Sniper Elite going to just wait for V2 to come out. Cogs bored after 10 minutes. And Yet it Moves did not move me. Atom Zombie Smasher burned out on zombies. Caster fun little 3rd person shooter. Demolition Inc. this is a keeper, lotsa 'splosions! DEMOTED! physics are a bit too inconsistent for my tastes; see a solution that partially works at one point, then works totally different after restarting the level. Gish too slow of a pace. Osmos was funner in Spore. Chime got dull after a minute. Faerie Solitaire surprisingly addictive. The Polynomial wasn't sure what the hell I needed to do, so off it goes. Shatter zzzzz Starscape already played this as SPAZ. Windosill finished actually, took about 15 minutes. Tidalis zzzzz..... Zen Bound 2 made me zzzz bound. VVVVVV see ZZZZZZZ. Zombie Bowl-o-rama didn't care for the mouse controls. Tommy Tronic game said I should hit M for main menu right at the beginning, did and the game crashed. restarted and no main menu would appear. disqualified. System Protocol One never a good sign when they have a tutorial and the arrows on screen are no where near the item they are talking about. Clones this one seems to have potential. Diamond Dan menus must have been made by the same people who did DiRT 2. Braid other than looking nice not seeing what the fuss was about. Bob Came in Pieces could be a good game, just not my liking. Hamilton's Great Adventure meh. Puzzle Robots +1 Puzzle Dimension ditto. Droplitz see above. Arcadia same. Doc Clock: Toasted Sandwich of Time this. Revenge of the Titans take a guess. Swords and Soldiers HD sidecrolling RTS not as fun as it sounds. Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom had potential but didn't care for the timed puzzles. Woody Two-Legs: Attack of the Zombie Pirates about as wooden as Woody's two legs. Fatale got this one for free, not sure I should call it a game. Rhythm Zone crash right out of the gate, and according to the Steam forums apparently the game has been abandoned.

I actually had fun with Cogs for a while. I'll probably give Hammerfight another shot eventually. What's wrong with Sniper Elite?

admittedly it was the graphics, figure I'll wait for Sniper Elite V2 to hit in a couple of weeks. Cogs was interesting but I flew through a bunch of levels and it was already feeling old. Hammerfight I didn't like the mouse controls- maybe if I had a bigger mouse pad. NyxQuest was part of a bundle, so I wasn't expecting to like it anyways. Caster is a keeper though. I also admit this is kind of the lightning round, where if the game doesn't grab me in 10 minutes it gets filed away so when I'm looking for what to play next I won't even see them. granted most of them are small cheap games, mostly under 100 megs in size.

Played a few hours of War for Cybertron on Friday and finished the first mission pretty quickly. Once I finish the 2nd Decepticon level I'll already be farther along than where I left off some time ago. Thinking about loading it up before I start cooking dinner as the Phils game hasn't been all that compelling.

Granted,I did know exactly what i was doing but still, I was level 65 when i finished and on disc 2 the old man in the cave who gives you the Mythril to swap for Aeries Ultimate Limit Break(which was useless as she was already dead!) said i had done 488 fights I did do one thing different this time around, and that was to totally ignore Aeries,i knew what happened to her so i wasn't gonna waste anytime with her, kept my team as Cloud Tifa and Barret as often as i could....The date at Gold Saucer was with Tifa this time around instead of Aeries

Normally I'd make some kind of snide comment about how apparently talking about gaming is more compelling than actually playing based on the activity in this thread, but at this point anything is more compelling than the Philadelphia offense. If one even existed. At least I have the Flyers for now.

No gaming done this weekend. Actually had a very good weekend. I cleaned. I finally watched 'Game Of Thrones' on HBO. Watched both 'Cabin In The Woods' and 'Hunger Games' (enjoyed both greatly!).. and have a very nice date. Can't complain. The games took a backseat, but it was o right.

Yesterday began efforts to figure out WTF is wrong with my system. Chrome, Firefox, and IE all hang for significant periods, and it's started affecting my Windows Explorer. I ran the MS Malicious Software removal Tool and it came up empty. I ran a couple different malware/adware tools and they came up empty.
I ram memtest overnight and it looked clean today, but I left it running today, so maybe it will find something. Last option is to nuke it from orbit (for the third time) and see if a system restore to factory resolves the issue.
After that, I'm going to make damned sure that I set up restore points this time and get something approaching a reasonable backup plan.

The Great Backlog Cleansing of 2012 took most of the weekend, so I never finished Crysis 2 but I did make progress in it. Xenoblade Chronicles didn't get touched, but that was mainly because the fiancee was busy playing another title starting with Xeno on my TV.

Played a bit more War for Cybertron after the Flyers game on Sunday and have now completed the first two Decepticon levels in the campaign. I have three or four more and then on to the Autobots. I'm already farther along than when I got started with it months ago, mainly because I made it past a prior stuck point. Might try to play with a little more regularity rather than waiting for weekends, but we'll see.

Fired up Torchlight again this weekend and decided to try out the gunslinger chick. Eight hours later I was amazed at where my day went. I never realized that she could be very steampunky in terms of dress and weaponry. Basically she's awesome and I'm plowing through enemies again. I love this game.
