coming this fall. it's going to be a fun sized adventure with the boys, and it will be part of the R&C 10th anniversary celebration. nothing much on the story yet other than it will be a return to the feel of classic R&C.

Apparently they plan on releasing a non-region disc in the UK I guess. They did that with Quest4Booty too but Amazon wants a ridiculous price for it.

Insomniac has revealed some new information and screenshots. The game will feature the traditional R&C gameplay with "a new tower defense element that will have you building and defending a base against invasions using your ultimate Ratchet & Clank arsenal." Sounds like fun to me, and it should be a nice variation on the standard R&C game. |

Has anyone picked this up? I'm trying to get a feel for what the single player is like and what I am gathering is that it is somewhat arena based and not really a platformer. If that's the case I'll probably hold off.

Has anyone picked this up? I'm trying to get a feel for what the single player is like and what I am gathering is that it is somewhat arena based and not really a platformer. If that's the case I'll probably hold off.
I got it. It's definitely that description. It's kind of a tower defense game. You go to worlds where you kill enemies in an open world type of setting and collect bolts and new weapons, but you have a base to build up (turrets, mines, etc) that periodically are attacked by streams of said bad guys. After you complete all the objectives, there's a big push of bad guys attacking the base. There's a demo, iirc, that you can check out. |

Now, has anyone actually played this game?
I have it. it really is Ratchet and Clank: Tower Defense. there are some light platforming elements, and some basic exploration, but the meat of the game revolves around collecting bolts to build defenses. Then you also need to bring the planetary defenses back on line, so you'll be traveling into enemy territory to throw a few switches. The usual RnC humor is present, but the graphics have been downgraded, along with story elements and platforming. But the combat is still fun and chaotic. Try the demo. I think the game is worth $20. |
