Strange how sometimes two isolated things happening (a recent trip trip to Gamestop to buy an old PS1 game and the installation of ePSXe on my PC) make you think about things. Like the fact that alot of PS1 games are now dirt cheap!!!
True, they are so last gen, but they do still have some gaming goodness. I realized that last night after playing Tomba for an hour and a half
I'm looking to generate a shopping list so that next time I go to Gamestop I can look for some good cheap games. Maybe not in that order, but the operative word is good. Cheap can be dealt with as the wallet dictates.
I did happen to find a list on an English mag site Games. May not all exist in the USA, but it is a good starter list :
1. ISS Pro Evolution 2 2. Metal Gear Solid 3. Gran Turismo 4. Tekken 3 5. Final Fantasy IX 6. Resident Evil 2 7. Medal Of Honour 8. WWF Smackdown! 2 9. TOCA 2 10.Syphon Filter 2 11.Driver 12.Ape Escape 13.Medal of Honor Underground 14.Vagrant Story 15.Wip3out 16.Dino Crisis 17.Future Cop: LAPD 18.Vigilante 8 19.Bushido Blade 20.Rage Racer
There were some others I saw in a few threads as well :
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Syphon Filter Street Fighter Collection
Anyone else have some PS1 game suggestions? Any genre, just the good ones (In Your Humbe Opinion)
Thanks!
My apologies if this has been covered before!

Bushido Blade is amazing. Bushido Blade 2 is pretty good. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is definitely worth buying.
Parappa the Rapper is worth trying, if only because of how odd it is.

Chrono Cross is a great one. Though I prefer Chrono Trigger . . . Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is an absolute classic. Love that game. Though, a friend somewhat "spoiled" me in showing me how to win everytime at that game by doing a certain tactic. Definately Valkyrie Profile if you can get your hands on it. Great combat system and I enjoyed the story. Those are a couple of my favorites

Super Puzzle Fighter is one of the best. What's that tactic, though? I've played that game for years and haven't seen anything that's unbeatable or fullproof.

There never was, or have been since, a better vehicular combat game. Just got this for Dreamcast. Fun game. I recently just picked up a PSone, first time owner, so ive been looking at games to get into as well. I have a star wars game right now, but it sucks to be honest, so im looking at other ones now.

Yeah I had played for years and years and just recently my friend showed it to me. All you have to do is just put the blocks vertically and then down all on the right side til you have it all the way stacked up. Then after one column is done do it on the left. Then one is done on that side make a second on the right. It looks like it won't work at ALL but all of your timed boxes will be collecting in the middle and the sides as well, forming HUGE gems. And just keep on doing that and don't deviate from "the strat" as he likes to call it.

In no particular order:
Gran Turismo Twisted Metal 2 Fox Sports NHL Championship 2000 Chrono Cross Grand Theft Auto Loaded Metal Gear Solid Ridge Racer Type 4 Tekken 2 MediEvil
I didn't get to play them, but both Oddworld games looked kick ass.

And nothing can beat it. Think about it, if you blindly race and put the blocks down with Ken, you'll get an organized pattern when the other character attacks you AND you'll get to the gem more quickly. It's unbeatable.

Ogre Battle was it for me. I looooooved that game. Used to get my friends and I'd give them squads to manage and let them pick to fight and what not. I'd have to say Persona sucked me in. I actually beat that game fun as all hell. The whole merging/talking to demons thing was just so unique.

There never was, or have been since, a better vehicular combat game. Just got this for Dreamcast. Fun game. For whatever reason, I think the original V8 on the PS1 was a much better game.

Vagrant Story - I just couldn't get into. Put about 6 hours into it, liked it and such, but I dunno. Wasn't hooked really. Maybe I should pick it up again and give it another go!

The story, characters, art direction, and music in VS were nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately, it was saddled with a horrible combat system that rendered it practically unplayable. Having to change weapons before every battle drove me absolutely nuts.

Exactly what I was looking to say - the graphics were nice, characters and the story were intriguing . . . but I just hated switching to a weapon to kill THIS bat and then switching to another to kill this other thing and so forth. But it's kinda cheap ($15 opposed to the regular $20) at a local video game store, so maybe I'll go pick it up. Does it get any better after 5-6 hours? Any input?

The biggest problem I have is that the 3D graphics of that generation are so jarring for me these days. I'm usually don't consider myself a graphics nut, but I guess I'm more of one than I thought. The 2D games I have no problem going back to. Oh well, my loss I guess, but there's more than enough games coming out these days to keep me occupied.
