Well, it seems that these two threads have dissapeared becom unsticky at the former forum, and I know that I liked looking through them. Figured we'd tie in the games finished So I was wondering if you guys wanted to start them up again? I'd say post your collections, games finished and post your top choices out of the collection. Maybe we can sticky it for reference purposes. Much better than having three separate thread. My collection for the most partI've finished: POP Beyond Good and Evil Luigi's Mansion Metal Gear The Twin Snakes Lost Kingdoms Wario World 1080 Snowboarding Metroid Fusion Metroid Zero Mission Fable Second Sight Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy - everything but the End rocked in this game True Crime Streets of LA <-- Liked it more than GTA Xmen Legends This has been a record year for me and beating games. It's amazing

Deathrow Max Payne Panzer Dragoon Orta Brute Force Dynasty Warriors 3 Buffy: The Vampire Slayer Tetris Worlds
Current Gameboy Advance Collection:
Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance Pokemon: Sapphire Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga Advance Wars Advance Wars II Golden Sun Tactics Ogre: The Knight of the Lodis Fire Emblem
Completed (This Year):
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay Full Spectrum Warrior Thief III
I think Ninja Gaiden was the last Xbox title I purchased. I've had to reallocate my gaming funds elsewhere and haven't been in a position to buy a title every other week or so like I used to. Otogi, DOA:XVB, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and Riddick are a few of the games I'm hoping to pick up when I get the chance.
Gunvalkyrie, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Deathrow, and Voodoo Vince are some of the games I think have gone widely unappreciated this generation. Murakumo (52% at Gamerankings.com) is the worst game I have played in a very long time. It's developed by From Software. To their credit, they're also the same developer behind the awesome Otogi series. Talk about running the gamut when it comes to quality. But at least Murakumo taught me to never, ever, ever purchase a game based off of boxart alone. That is a lesson I will not soon forget.
Also, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga turned out to be much more enjoyable than I'd thought it would. In fact, it's probably the most fun and the most I've laughed with any Nintendo game. They may be milking poor Mario to death, but at least the franchise is still producing quality titles.

Well, my entry is going to be completed, abandoned (after a significant amount of playtime), and in-progress games. Because I'm cool like that. And that bored. (RED = Updated or New).
**[PC]**
-Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete
STATUS: Open. 10% Complete.
Update 8/25/2005: I've been playing HOMM3 off and on as the desire strikes me. So far I've completed two or three of the campaigns in Shadow of Death. Truly a classic.
3/6/2005: I very recently re-purchased and re-installed this collection with the intent to play through all the campaigns, a feat I never managed to accomplish. This is really my only goal-based single-player title on the PC at the moment--otherwise I'm playing multiplayer games or skirmishes in Rise of Nations or whatnot.
GRADE: A+
**[GCN]**
-Resident Evil 4
STATUS: Completed, March 13th, 2005. ~18 Hours for first playthrough of the storyline.
Wow. This game is the Cube's killer app, and boy does it deserve that honor. It's less 'scary' than it is dread-inducing, which is fantastic. Plus it's just... well... impossible to stop playing, in my opinion.
Literally my only gripe with the game is that the story is wrapped up too neatly at the end--for all the buildup, the ending is kind of pedestrian. Fortunately the gameplay is sheer bliss up til the end (and even beyond, with the bevy of extras that are unlocked). Not to be missed.
GRADE: A+
-Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
STATUS: Abandoned. ~70% Complete.
A decent game that has far too much back-tracking. Graphics are pretty for the first few hours, but get same-y very quickly. Normal enemies are tedious, bosses are boring and unimpressive. Weapons are largely underwhelming. Once the sheen wears off, it's a war of attrition my patience just couldn't win.
GRADE: B/B-
-Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door
STATUS: Abandoned. ~75% Complete. 40+ Hours.
A decent game which I enjoyed for the entire time I played it. After getting all but one of the stars and getting all the characters, however, I just lost interest. Undoubtedly the best RPG on the Gamecube, the story started to lag at the end and I stopped caring about finishing. It's no Super Mario RPG, (a game that utterly enthralled me -- it struck the perfect balance between Nintendo humor and Final-Fantasy melodrama), but it's a good game in its own right.
GRADE: A-
**[PS2]**
-Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
STATUS: Complete, Late March, 2005.
Update 8/25/2005: I forgot to ever mention I completed this. Quite a good game, though the last couple missions drag a bit. There are definitely areas it could use improvement in, like the targetting of air strikes and their overall usefulness vs. cost, but nothing gamebreaking, and nothing that couldn't be fixed in a sequel (which I'd definitely purchase).
3/6/2005: Pardon the disrespect, but:
Jesus. Tapdancing. Christ.
WHERE did this game come from? Why is it so fun? How does such an (arguably) AAA title sneak up on the market like this did?
Sure, the Swedish guy's voiceover alternates between sounding like he's from Tennessee and like he's from Jersey, but who cares? Mercenaries is GTA's 'metagame' of mass destruction outside of missions refined to the n-th degree and blessed with destructible buildings. Sure, the game turns out to be not as varied or deep as GTA because of this choice, but arguably, it's more consistantly fun too.
It's not innovative. It's not particularly original. But it's amazingly well-made, and it's just a blast to play.
GRADE: A
-Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant
Status: Abandoned. ~20% Complete.
This game never 'clicked' with me for two reasons:
1.) It's a cocktease. Whenever you think you've just come to something cool, it turns out to be pretty shallow and lame (ie: the 'Graveyard' and the elemental forms, Crests in general, (are we like materia? are we like spellbooks? why do we have levels?), the 'Solomon's Key', etc).
2.) It can't decide what it wants to be. It openly mocks the melodrama of games like Final Fantasy, but obviously borrows heavily from the series and even delves into melodrama that rivals the FFs only minutes after mocking the notion. Oh, and the setting is horribly under-utilized and is terribly anachronistic.
Sure, it's up there when it comes to average RPGs. I've played plenty of RPGs worse than Shadow Hearts: Covenant. What saddens me, though, is that with a little tighter design and a little more depth, this game could have been a masterpiece. Ultimately I couldn't shake that depressing notion, so I gave up on trying to play the game.
GRADE: B
-The Suffering
STATUS: Completed, mid January 2005.
Talk about being late to the party.
What a ride this game was. From the cheap-but-effective 'jump' scares to the utterly horrific, disturbing monster design and family "events," The Suffering takes my horror crown from the Resident Evil remake on Gamecube and sets it firmly atop its twisted cranium.
More weapons would have been nice. Maybe more moves for Torque's 'insane' form. In fact, I think the game would have been neater if it played the 'insanity' bar up more... I know after having a full bar for a long time Torque would begin to occasionally stop moving and grab his head as if in pain, but beyond that, the bar didn't play any role beyond a charge-up super everything dies move. I'm not saying I want another Eternal Darkness or anything, but admittedly combat was easy to 'cheap' your way out of by maxing out your 'insane' experience and spamming the map-clearing explosive attack until the waves of enemies dried up.
SPOILER?
Plus, for me at least, the game was very buggy in a certain part -- the slave ship and Clem's escape. Clem himself was very, very buggy. It took me 5-6 reloads to finally get him to initiate the conversation to open up the slave ship, and then another 3-4 reloads after that to get him to finally sail away on his ship and get the 'good guy' point.
SPOILER DONE
Still, it was a great game and I'm definitely looking forward to the recently annouced sequel.
GRADE: B+
-Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
STATUS: Completed, May 2005.
Probably the second-best game in the series -- better than 1 but slightly less satisfying than 2. Definitely worth the price of admission at the $30 or $35 I paid for it, though the game does go by fast.
GRADE: A-
-Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
STATUS: Abandoned, ~25% Complete
Wild fluctuations in difficulty; sticky, heavy, unresponsive combat; weaker puzzle/exploration than Sands of Time; skanky enemies; really, really, really bad metal that is the only song that ever plays in the game. At least the environments are interesting.
GRADE: C
-X-Men: Legends (PS2)
STATUS: Abandoned, ~10% Complete
Ugh. It's just awful, at least on the PS2. Graphics are blurry and slushy and all meld to this mysterious blob of bad cel-shaded color. Pulling up the Inventory actually invokes a Loading screen and a 4-5 second wait. Items are boring, characters are boring, combat is hamfisted. It feels less like you're an X-Man and more like you're using a controller to manipulate a hand that's playing with an action figure.
GRADE: D
-Test Drive: Eve of Destruction
STATUS: Abandoned, ~5% Complete
Tom Chick was right about one thing -- this game is a better racing game than Burnout 3. Unfortunately, it's a much worse, much less entertaining crashing game, mostly because it attempts to be somewhat realistic.
Interesting title if you were a fan of the Destruction Derby series. Just be prepared for minimalist, earthy graphics.
GRADE: B
-Burnout 3
STATUS: Abandoned, ~25% Complete
You'll love the game until you figure out the AI rubberbands more than that creepy tube-machine at the newspaper press. Crashing is a joy in that it's very pretty, has some cool physics associated with it, and loads fast. Sadly, racing against the AI is just trash because it cheats so badly. And crashing, hilarious and fun as it is, gets sort of old.
GRADE: B
TBA: -Guild Wars (PC) -Space Rangers 2 (PC) -Meteos (DS) -Kirby Canvas Curse (DS) -Mario DS (DS) -LoZ: Minish Cap (GBA) -Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls (GBA) -God of War (PS2) -Ico (PS2) -Dark Cloud 2 (PS2) -Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land (PS2) -Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires (PS2) -Viewtiful Joe 2 (PS2)

Here's my collection: http://users.gamestats.com/collection/FingFangFoomI have yet to add my NES and Intellivision games. Recently Finished Games PS2 - God of War - B- I was very unimpressed. The combat was no better than Devil May Cry and the graphics had a strange "glitch" that appeared as if v-sync were turned off to maximize the frame rate. Also, it felt like they wasted the Greek mythology setting. The game climaxes 30 minutes in with the epic Hydra battle. PC - Freedom Force Versus the Third Reich - A+ GC - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - A

2005 list
PC ACT OF WAR
PS2 GOD OF WAR
XBOX JADE EMPIRE
GAME CUBE NONE
GAME BOY DS & ADVANCE NONE
I have many games yet to be completed. and the fact I have completed 3 game so far for the year is unheard of for me. Halo 2, ratchet and clank 3, GTA: SA are all close to completion Future games such as Darkwatch, 187 ride or die, 25 to life, & gun will more than likely be completed before the year end.
This should be 25% of game purched completed I am going for a record increase by decreasing my purchase limite to 40 games max this year.
Xbox 360 is not included in this.

Mine would be a damn long (and probably very incomplete) list. It would go all the way back to the Atari 2600! Sure would be funny to compile it...

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
My very first FE - I enjoyed it very much. At times, didn't feel strategic enough for my taste. But it was a fun 24-hour ride.
B
Beyond Good & Evil
When I decided to actually play this one, I really got into it. It captured my attention for a few nights and I think I completed it around the 8-hour mark. Such an underrated game. Shame it didn't sell more.
B+
Ossu! Tatakae! Ouendan
I've beaten it on easy and normal (currently halfway through hard), so I'll consider it beaten. Fantastic ending (song). Serious contender for GOTY - absolutely fantastic game. Can't recommend it enough.
A+
Shadow of the Colossus
Very well perhaps could be the G-O-This-Console-Generation. It should be included in those "history of video games" sort of deals along with the Mario's and Zelda's, IMO. Nothing like it. One of my most favorite games of all-time.
A+
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance *updated December 4th, 2005*
Well, I had played this one in tiny, tiny bursts for QUITE awhile. Finally sat down with it and really got into it this weekend. I really, really enjoyed it. Fantastic stuff.
A
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes *updated December 29th, 2005*
I liked the story a little better than MGS2, I liked the gameplay quite a bit better, the ending wasn't quite as good, but I really, really enjoyed this one. Such a great game throughout. Learning more and more of the backstory of the MGS series is awesome.
A
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones *updated January 2nd, 2006*
My first entry into the PoP series...sort of. I had played about an hour each of the first two, but found this one for super cheap, so I grabbed it. It was a somewhat enjoyable ride with some bumpy spots along the way. It seemed really God of War-ish, which is just fine to me, but just a step below. The platforming rocked, but it was an average game. The ending sequence raises the grade from a C+ to a...
