Honestly, the overall Sony corp has been bleeding money in so many ways. Only a few parts have been profitable. I doubt they have enough money to fund development on an extra game.

I honestly think they should have fully cancelled Last Guardian a long time ago, put that team on a different project for a while so they could learn to develop things efficiently, then come back to the idea.

Even if you want to make artistic games like this, spending the money on a team for what, 9 years now, is no way to do art or business.

And yet somehow Sony France has "categorically" stated that the game is still in development according to an update to the linked article.

Guys, it's not cancelled. It's not even as if this is the first time the trademark has expired.

Whew!  I am glad the game that isn't coming out isn't canceled so people can continue to hope it will actually be released.

As expected, the trademark has been renewed. Again.

Or they renewed the trademark for just 3 months.
