That was always so frustrating with that game, hearing all the buildup and then having it fizzle away into nothing. oh,yeah i see what you mean basically, yes. the oblivion theme builds up for about 25 seconds then goes all mellow, like JS just popped a Quaalude or something, for about 30 then builds back up again only to peter out a short while before getting to another build-up and mellow-out sequence. the ES5 theme is a huge payoff started out by a strong yell. even without the lyrics, it's a strong theme song all the way through. kind of fitting really. morrowind, dark elves, exotic sound. es5, nords, strong sound. es4, britons, wussy sappy crap.

Heh, now I'm confused. I'm not sure if it's you or me who's thinking ahead of the other one.  When I say "compressed", I mean that as in the musical term. In layman's terms, the volume throughout the Skyrim theme has been standardized to such a degree that you can't tell where it sounds loud and where it sounds "soft" just by looking at the waveform. The other two tracks are subject to only soft compression, while Skyrim's has been compressed to a massive degree (as is common with advertisements). Of course, you quite possibly know this and are referring to something I know nothing about.

It just sounds more powerful to me. I for one love choir based songs, especially if done right. By by standards, this is REALLY done right. Absolutely outstanding trailer. And if (as the rumor says) this is only 360 footage, it's that much more amazing. Impressive what the console can do.

Fallout s the auto leveling was pretty invisable, I do remember some very tough areas I had to leave for later so I continue to have hope. I still disagree with "in a game like this, there has to be some auto leveling." I have played nig rpgs without it, it works just fine.

Really? That preview got you excited? I normally look for the positive but it seemed to me that preview told me very little about the game at all. So he dispatched some enemies easily and there several different death animations. Not really to be a drag, but no way will there be enough animations for it not to get old. There is a lot of death in these game. People actually have jobs? Good Bethesda, ummm, I've kinda been used to that for a while now,thx. He ran and hid from a dragon? Good. I was afraid they were going to say he crushed the dragon with 5-6 sword thrusts and a spell of doom. He picked a flower? Do I have to say anything to that? Oh, and the UI sounds kinda like a pain in the ass. Look to the sky for your simplified skill tree? So what could I have seen in a preview that would have got me excited? Some very cool, creepy, terrifing enemies and/or dragons. Hey, those Gothic mini T-rex's are cool enough. A dark, spooky, crumbling dungeon/ruin by flickering tourchlight, with maybe an epic difficult fight at the end with a great reward, or maybe some tricky traps along the way, or both. An interesting quest given in an interesting way. Part of a skill tree with some difficult choices on it. How about just something as fun as the Nehrim enterance to the dark forrest, with a warning sign about how difficult a trek it would be. Now, maybe some of this stuff is in the game and they just want to preview generic stuff as so not to spoil anything. Hope so. Yes I will play this when it comes out, but while that one screen shot of the crumbling ruined tower in the distance got my juices flowing, this preview did nothing for me.
