What are you planning to play to celebrate throwing off the yoke of King George's reign.   Plenty of Overwatch for me and I'm starting to get the WoW itch again  crybaby

I actually reinstalled WoW last night.  paranoid

Not going to have much game time this weekend, but what little I have will be Far Cry: Primal, WoW, and my possible Steam sale pickups - The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Age of Wonders III.

Must be a theme, as I also decided to give WoW a dedicated shot, at least for a month or two.

Might mix in some Odin Sphere and FFXIV as well.

Hopefully I get more time for The Technomancer.  I've also been enjoying Shadow Blade: Reload and probably more Dirty Bomb.

Computer hardware games.  Boot drive died yesterday.  New drive installed, Win10 installed, data drive not being seen.  Get to fiddle with it and see if I can get it all back into working order.

Steam sales have distracted me.  Steamworld Heist, Salt and Sanctuary, Qvadriga a bit.  Got my placement in Overwatch done so probably do a bit of that as well.

My kids got me Odin Sphere for my birthday and it's surprisingly fun. I'll spend any free time hopping maps.

Yep, several more hours as a Technomancer.  Also Bladed some shadows and made some bombs dirty.  Maybe a bit more tomorrow before bbq and fireworks.

Whelp, my WoW experiment ended...poorly.  I ran through the first 12 levels on three different toons, and simply came away, well, bored.  And before you say "but it's just the early levels!", I should mention that the early levels - learning the lore, exploring the world, learning the gameplay - is typically my favorite time in an MMO.  I mostly just find that whenever I fired up WoW, it really made me want to play something else that has improved on its original formula.  That's not a knock against WoW, mind you, it's more just an indication of how the genre has evolved over the years.  I also find that despite what I try and tell myself, I'm still kind of a graphics whore.

So I jumped back into ESO for a little while.  Rolled a Redguard Dragonknight, which feels like a completely different experience than my Nightblade was.  Plus, it's awfully pretty.  smile

How would you say ESO compares to something like Skyrim at this point when it comes to basic combat and mechanics?  Is ESO still a game where you just hit 1, 2, 3, 4, 2, 1, etc or does it feel more like a single player action RPG?

ESO is still very much an MMO, with a skill bar, rotations, etc.  However, the scope, scale, story, and lore are absolutely Elder Scrolls.

I actually much prefer ESO to Skyrim, a game I thought got pretty boring once the wow factor wore off.  I'd even go so far as to say ESO my favorite of all the ES games, although I'm sure I'm in the extreme minority there.

Yeah, I just can't go back to the MMO play style of using a skill bar and everything.  Regardless of the rest of the game that just feels like a really dated mechanic that literally puts me to sleep as soon as I start using it.
