Anyone who knows me knows I am not a pimp for any one gaming system. I have them all, I like them all. But for me it's all about the games. Over the last few months I have gradually become more and more astonished at the game lineup that has been coming out for the DS.

I can't recall ever seeing such a strong lineup for any console over a six month period!

Let's just take a look:

1] Kirby Canvas Curse -- the game that signalled the beginning of the trend. Deep, innovative 2D gaming goodness.
2] Meteos -- a godly game. I like it even better than Lumines
3] Nanostray -- a severely underrated 2D shooter IMHO. (Throw it out of this list if you wish. There's plenty more smile )
4] Phoenix Friggin' Wright -- an amazing game! Adventure games have found a new home. (Love the stylus control!)
5] Castlevania -- now we're into the Big Boys! An all-time classic game.
6] Nintendogs -- beautifully executed, this charmed my wife's pants off
7] Advance Wars -- magnificent!
8] Trauma Center -- now this is how you make use of the touch screen!
9] Metroid Prime Pinball -- one of the best pinball games for any console. Ever.
10] Mario Kart -- headlining the "Upcoming List"
11] Mario & Luigi 2
12] Animal Crossing DS -- this is going to be huge...
13] Viewtiful Joe DS -- yum. More 2D goodness

and for those of you into the "import" craze...
14] Jump SuperStars -- Super Smash Brothers Melee on a handheld? With a million unlockables??

and the King of them all:
15] Ouendan -- Buy it now! It's one of the best games - ON - ANY - SYSTEM - to come out this year!!

That to me is just a phenomenal lineup. I sit down to play a game on my DS and seriously struggle with what great game to reach for. There's not a dog in the bunch (well, Nintendogs!! hee hee) In fact I would argue that they are all outstanding games!

Anyone else enjoying this bumper crop?? biggrin

...damnit, off the top of my head I've got 6 quickie statements to that line, and only 2 of them involve peanut butter    ...  I'll stick with the work-safe one : Methinks the DS is gettin' more hands-on time than Cleric7.

Not that impressed myself, but I'm really enjoying X-Men Legends on PSP. I personally can't wait for Fire-Pro DS, as the GBA version is my all time favorite handheld game. Upcoming games look good though:

While I haven't played Phoenix Friggin'Wright (it's on my growing list of DS games I want) I'll also add Trace Memory to your list of great adventure games on the DS.  Amazing use of the DS's multiple screens, stylus and microphone.  Just a great, fun game.

And don't forget the turn-based Age of Empires game which looks mighty cool.  And Disciples II.  And the rumors of a Firaxis game on the DS.

I AGREE!  The lineup - both previously released games and upcoming ones - is astounding for the DS.  I've really played that more than any other system.

Plus the price-point for the games is right too.  I mean sure, some of them retail for $35, but most sell for $30.  Awesome price.

The DS ROCKS!

The problem is that I DO know what I'm missing, and that's my money!!

I've got almost all the games mentioned above and other than Metroid Pinball and the "Male Cheerleader Game" nothing has held my interest more than a few hours. Even Advance Wars could have easily been a GBA game. I suspect ANOTHER Mario Kart or Animal Crossing aren't going to do the trick either.

As for the Devils - They just stink and no Marty isn't helping matters. I'm convinced that I could play better Malakhov.

Love Always,

got my ds a few weeks back for trauma center, & am very glad i did (also glad i waited a bit - not that i don't still love my psp, but having a number of good titles available right off the bat sure does make an already good system look that much better)...

As cool as all those games  sound, I just can't get that enthused about handheld games.  I've got my old-school emulator machine (i.e. 1.50 firmware PSP), and that more than satisfies my portable gaming needs.

Meh

All those games really don't make me that excited. Wake me when Super Mario Bros. DS is out...until then, I'll enjoy my Xbox 360 and PSP. I don't know how I am going to make it....

Eh, where do you guys import from? I'd be interested in Jump!Superstars as that will never ever come out here.

I may even look into the Music Bros games which are supposed to be mint!

Lik-Sang.com is pretty reliable.

I tend to use Play-Asia.com.  They both are pretty good import sites.

quick comment: just finished, & how good is this game? this good - of every game i've played & enjoyed for the last however long while, this is the only one i didn't ever want to end. i think i could've happily continued playing it forever (or thereabouts). zero replay value aside, do not deny yourself the ingenious pleasures of this game. really, really hope the sequels make it over...

on to quendan (whenever the hell my copy gets here)...

I agree with the DS rocking. I have Metoes(It SMOKES lumines!), mario 64, warioware touched, nintendogs, metroid pinball, and a few gba games, and wow! There all keepers, usually one of my games for a system is on the way to be traded, not on the DS, all keepers for me. A great system it is.

I so love my DS.

On the subject of Ouendan : I haven't played it in a few weeks and I still get those songs stuck in my head.  Great catchy tunes that I thought I would have gotten sick of after hearing some of them over and over.
