The Darkness II

well, the first The Darkness didn't make it to the PC, but the sequel is.   I played the original on the 360 and it was fairly fun up to the point imy save game got corrupted, and I'm looking forward to seeing what new ways they come up with to kill people this time.

The first one was ok. It was kinda cool at times, and sometimes seemed to drag a bit. Will probably grab during a steam sale.

I think "will probably grab during a Steam sale" is going to become my mantra. It takes me a long time to finish games, and I have a few in the hopper now. I just might be able to last until the big summer sale.

Finished the first game this morning and then started this game. 

The graphics are awesome and really impressive, it's like a more colorful Borderlands.
The controls are so much better than the first game that I wish the first was remade with them. Slashing enemies is very satisfying and taking out lights is so much easier.
The sound is also well done and there is a ton of commotion going on from weapons to screaming that it's almost sensory overload.

How are the controls on the PC version? 

Generally I find mouse/KB to be a MUCH better control method for shooter games, but it seems like it might be difficult to work the darkness arms into the standard mouse/kb control scheme.  I have a hunch this one might just control better with a gamepad...

My computer is hooked up to my TV so I'm using the controller and it's very smooth.  I'll give the kb/m a try later and let you know.

There's a demo for this on the PC which you can test out the controls. The mouse/keyboard seemed fine to me. A lot of recent games I've switched to using the controller but this one I'll stick with mouse/keyboard - once it gets to the $20-30 price range.

This game is awesome and I'm really having a blast playing it.  I'm about 5 hours in and not sure if I'm close to finishing or not.  I'm playing on hard mode so I've died about 10 times and had to play some sections over. 
I also try and talk to everyone around so we'll see how long it takes me. 

The graphics are really awesome and there are some neat venues that you travel too.  I really wasn't a big fan of the gun play of the first game but this one everything feels right.  The story is well done as well and I do like most of the characters.  The voice acting is top notch and I like the new voice better as well.

Finished the main campaign tonight and it was around 6 hours and I still need to play the Vendettas.  I really enjoyed the game and not upset at all at it's length, it was just about right.

When you play don't forget to go into the Relic menu options.  It's some of the funniest dialog that I've heard in a long time.

finally getting around to playing this after buying it during that big sale Amazon had on it.  love the graphical look, and kb/m feels OK so far.

just finished the main story, which was pretty fun.  played around with vendettas and hit list but they're not keeping my attention, so I'm passing on them for now.

How does this game compare to the first? I never could get into the first for some reason. I started it a bunch of times and never got further than the part where he watches tv with his girlfriend. Come to think of it, I had a very similar experience with Riddick (same developers, right?) There's just a lot of sales on number 2 right now.
