That's right, Final Fantasy VI is coming out for the GBA next week. Nothing can beat FFVI's soundtrack, story, characters & gameplay. It's simply the best put-together RPG I've ever played. And if you haven't ever played it & you're a fan of RPGs, well, you simply must pick it up. I've played through it several times and I'm picking it up to play through again! So it begins...

I'm not as over the moon on it as some (Kefka is entirely one dimensional and one of the more overrated villains and the last half has some some pacing issues) but it is a fantastic game. I actually played it for the very first time about two or three years ago and it's aged very, very well.

Kefka is only a great villain if you mentally give him the voice of Rip Taylor or Charles Nelson Reilly.

You know, I've played every single FF game, but this one. I had Final Fantasy 1 for the NES and FF 2 for the SNES (FF4 in Japan), but I never got FF3 for the SNES, cause I wasn't really buying anything for the SNES at that point. I played like the first 20 minutes of the game on the PS1, but the emulation issues drove me crazy (the horrid loading times) but I was thinking of starting it again on the PS3 with my FF Anthology copy that I still have. I may just buy this though, since I hear it fixes the loading times....but it doesn't include the new FMV's that were done for the Anthology.

I just don't know if I can play this again. I loved it when I was what, 14 maybe 15 years old. I like classic games a lot, but for some reason I don't really enjoy classic RPGs as much.

My heart says to get it because it's FFVI. My head says not to because I have a functioning SNES and original cart for the game. My heart answers back "The SNES may go out someday, and the cart can't last forever either."

I take it there's no chance of seeing FFVI on the Wii's virtual console this year? I need this game, but I'd rather have it on my TV, or at least full screen on the DS.
You know, now I'm glad I didn't sell my Gamecube when I got the Wii, I think it's time to fire up the GBA player on the Cube.

uh,... this isn't a thread about ar tonelico, then?... i'll be getting it, eventually, but, like kevin, i just played it for the first time a couple years ago. truly excellent & timeless game (amazing soundtrack). &, as regards kefka, his cruel, malevolent, hateful laughter continues to echo in my mind to this day...

Ultima 6 owns j00 n00b! But yes for consoles, FF 6 (FF3 if you're a patriot ) is hard to beat. Definitely my favorite of the Final Fantasies.

GBA games are playable on the DS so no worries there.

If you're saying this based on my "I wish it was full screen on the DS" comment, I was just referring to how GBA games don't fill the entire screen since the DS has a higher resolution than the GBA.

Fantastic RPG. I am most definitely picking this one up, but I have no bloody idea when I'll even think about finding the time to play through this again. And I'm sorry - Sepiroth (however you spell that loser's name) is one of the most overrated villains ever. Kefka... He was just a total nutjob.

Sephiroth has "mother issues" that made him seem overly needy, as though all he needed was a hug to make it all better. Kefka wanted to fucking destroy everything and everyone and absorb enough power to make him a god. Kefka FTW, no question.

Kefka is the best damn villian to hit an RPG EVER. Yeah, still don't get it. Utterly boring. Yeah, he's psycho, so what? In fact, Kefka was probably my biggest disappointment with the game. Can GBA games play on a Nintendo DS?
Absolutely.

I'm finally going to get a DS-Lite in the next few months. This will be the first game I pick up. My favorite game of the SNES era, and still one of my favorites overall.

Man, they are really pumping these FF ports out at blinding speed now. I still haven't played through 4 and 5, let alone the new 3. Just glad they are out there for the future. I love my micro.

Well, the good news is that they've totally exhausted the older Final Fantasy franchise. Short of them 'porting' the PS1 titles to the PSP, they've now all been done.
